We launched a junior water polo program in the Dayton OH area the summer of 2010.

Background: I learned to play in California in High School, and then played in college at the University of Dayton. I then coached the team for 17 years winning several state and league titles, before ending a career placing 2nd, 3rd and winning the

Dayton area Youth Water Polo starts up again on April 9th at the West Carrollton YMCA. All boys and girls 6th to 12th grade to are welcome to come out. We have a special 2 day clinic April 9 and 11th for new players to try it out for FREE. Hello Water Polo players and parents,

Our spring 2023 program is approaching, and we wanted to get some information out so that you all can plan accordingly.

PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW - Water Polo is a great sport that is both physically challenging and loads of fun. We want to develop our athletes' water polo skills in an environment that is positive and challenging. We strive to teach them individual and team water polo skills that will make them a contributing team member. We hope to impress upon them, among other life skills, the importance of physical activity, teamwork, responsibility, and grit.

POOL LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
- Location: West Carrolton YMCA
- Practices will begin on Monday April 10th and run through Thursday May 25th. Monday and Thursday evenings 7:30–9:15p.

CALENDAR - The practice schedule will be posted on the Oakwood Water Polo calendar at:

PARTICIPATION – Oakwood Water Polo is Coed. Additionally, as the only Water Polo team in the Dayton area, we are open to players from any school system. Typically players are 8th grade or older.

ATTENDANCE - Our spring season is our off-season training session. Attendance is strongly encouraged, but not mandatory. The skills we teach will be repeated several times during the season. Missing a few practices will not significantly affect their development.

SET UP AND TEAR DOWN EQUIPMENT - Setting up the equipment (goals, balls, caps, etc.) is quick and easy if everyone lends a hand. All players will be expected to help out.

WEATHER - Any weather delays / cancellations will be communicated via email and group me.

FEES - The fee for the spring program is $350. Please make the checks to "Oakwood Water Polo." If this is your first time with Oakwood Water Polo, and would like to try a few practices, there will be no fee if you drop out.

GAMES - We are working on setting up a few scrimmages. More information to follow.

AMERICAN WATER POLO - Please register for AWPA American Water Polo Membership. This is mandatory as they provide our insurance. It’s $60 per year. Link: Sign up for team Dayton Water polo. http://www.americanwaterpolo.org/membership/. Be sure to select "Dayton Water Polo" as the club name. When complete, please send us your AWP ID number.
