Dear Kettering Community,
We write to you today with heavy hearts, as we share important news about the format of our Pride celebration for this year.
Due to unforeseen new costs implemented by the park, we are unfortunately unable to host the large community celebration that we had all been looking forward to.
We know how deeply disappointing this is for so many in our community. Please know that your Kettering Pride Board has been working diligently to find a meaningful path forward - one that continues to keep our community strong, visible, and connected.
With that in mind, we are excited to announce the launch of our new Pop-up Pride Picnic series!
These monthly, family-friendly events will take place at various locations throughout Kettering and neighboring cities, each with a unique theme designed to bring us closer together in an intimate and welcoming setting.
We value your voice. Your input will be essential as we shape the vision for these gatherings.
If you are interested in sharing your ideas, we warmly invite you to attend our upcoming input meeting on
February 8th, from 4–5pm, either virtually or in person. If you would like to participate, please email us at [email protected], and we will provide further details.
Our first Pop-up Pride Picnic will be held on Friday, May 1st, from 5–7pm at Dorothy Lane American Baptist Church in Kettering, Ohio. We’ll be celebrating May Day with activities for all ages and, of course, delicious picnic food. We hope to see you there as we create new traditions together.
This is only a temporary pause in our larger Pride celebration as we work towards renewed collaboration with the City of Kettering, with hopes of reviving our bigger event in 2027.
We understand how vital visibility is - especially now - and we remain steadfast in our commitment to maintain a safe, vibrant, and proud community, regardless of the challenges we face.
Thank you for your understanding, your support, and your resilience. No matter what obstacles arise, together we will continue to rise and shine.
With gratitude and pride,
The Kettering Pride Board
