We at Sidewalk Soldiers observe the holiday Juneteenth.

June 19th marks the anniversary of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Today we want to honor the BIPOC community and recognize this monumental moment in history that represents a pivotal point of saying no to oppression, taking a stand for freedom, and celebrating human life. We are dedicated to being a diverse organization that is educated on all backgrounds and supports every individual with respect and value.

Diversity is an essential value for us, especially as a faith-based organization. Jesus teaches us in the first and second greatest commandments that loving God is inseparable from loving one another.

Since January,The Uthona Project has had the privilege of walking alongside moms through pregnancy, postpartum, reunification, recovery, and the challenges that come with navigating complex systems.

Sometimes what a mom needs most isn’t another program, it’s a person who shows up to advocate for them and love them when they don’t quite love themselves. Someone to stand beside her, help her find her voice, and remind her that she doesn’t have to fight every battle alone.

That’s what we’ve been building: a village where women are seen, supported, and empowered.

Every mom deserves someone in her corner. 💜

RTA is offering free rides systemwide to help with transportation to Juneteenth events on Friday, June 19th.

June 19th, also known as Juneteenth, is a federal holiday that marks the anniversary of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. We want everyone to have the opportunity to celebrate this monumental day in history and be informed about this resource.

Congrats to our founder and Executive Director- see below what her journey of freedom has brought her! We are so proud of her and blessed to have a front row seat to this journey

12 years ago I left a life of chaos, desperation, and exploitation. Getting sober might have been the easy part, healing the deeply broken places inside me and dealing with myself has been the journey. God has healed places in my mind that I thought would always be broken. He gave me a sound mind when chaos once seemed to have the loudest voice. He softened and changed my heart. He awakened a hope in me that made me want to live.

I'm still a work in progress. In His perfect timing, He shapes us, refines us, and makes us more like Him. He is faithful.

As I reflect on life, recovery, my daughter's graduation, and the reality that this is the last summer she'll spend living at home, my heart is overflowing with gratitude. Every day, I thank God for the privilege of being Gabby's momma and my sweet CeCe's momma. What an incredible gift and honor!!

Had it not been for recovery and the transforming power of God, I would not have been able to show up for my family the way I am able to today. It is a blessing to be present for the people I love most. God healed me from the inside out. He restored my family, and gave me the strength to keep moving forward, and to serve others.

Today, my family is blessed—not because life has been easy or is perfect for us, but because God has been faithful through every season. And He will be faithful in this season also. Looking back, I see His hand in every chapter. Looking ahead, I trust Him with every page that's still unwritten.

God is still healing.
God is still restoring.
God is still faithful.
