💜 GET TO KNOW AMY 💜 Meet Amy, one of our incredible Peer Supporters with Sidewalk Soldiers. Amy primarily serves in the field with the Uthona Project and hopes to become even more involved with Outreach and all that is ahead.
Her connection to Sidewalk Soldiers began through an outreach role at MVHO. From there, the mission and the people stayed on her heart. “Being able to be part of the impact being made now is truly a dream come true.” What drew Amy to Sidewalk Soldiers most was our faith based foundation. For her, having Christ at the center of the mission means everything. She also loves seeing the heart behind every person who makes this work possible, including staff, volunteers, donors, board members, and community partners. Amy says one of her favorite parts of peer support is simply being able to connect with people. She believes vulnerability creates deeper connection, and her own life experiences allow her to see the person behind the adversity, not just the challenges they are facing.
“Being able to be what I wish I had means so much to me. We all have a desire to be understood.” Prayer is also a huge part of Amy’s heart.
“If you have crossed my path, whether I have prayed with you or not, I have most likely prayed for you.” One thing Amy wishes more people understood is how many barriers people can face during difficult seasons of life, and how much of a difference each of us can make when we choose compassion, understanding, and unity. And a fun fact about Amy? She loves to write. ✍️
Writing gives her space for reflection, perspective, healing, and peace.
She is also the proud mom of 6 year old twins, so finding quiet time to write is not always easy, but she would not trade it for anything. 🫶
We are so grateful to have Amy as part of the Sidewalk Soldiers family and for the heart, faith, compassion, and lived experience she brings into every connection she makes.
