A bit of information for EBT users I just discovered that may benefit some of you or someone you know!

**If you receive EBT benefits you can sign up to use them for groceries on Amazon and have them delivered at NO COST. You can also buy certain nonfood items which allow you to grow your own vegetables and herbs indoors. This can be very helpful to people who do not have a car or find it difficult to get rides, as well as those not physically able to get out. Hope this helps someone!**

UPDATE ON GENIE'S WISH:

Genies Wish was working on getting a space in West Carrollton. We had planned on being in there by December 1st, but the city wouldn't approve our permit of occupying the bulding . They basically wanted a for profit occupier. They told us things we needed to do to work with them, which we did. They gave us a notice in February and things were looking up. We had hoped to set up a resource center with computers, training , Dayton foodbank and more . We know the need is out there, we just need help finding a place to work out of . Too many people are without cars that depend on getting to pantries. Or they are without internet access or a computer to apply for assistance. Now times are even harder with the pandemic and our country is heading for a deep recession. We are still here, and we are still trying to make something happen. We've had setbacks due to health issues but we have not given up hope.

Just touching base and letting everyone know we are still shutdown while the pandemic is going on. We can try to give you resources for certain things but that's about our limit at this time. I hope everyone is safe and staying healthy. Thanks

🚨🍼🚨Emergency Baby Formula Recipe🚨🍼🚨

One standard-sized 13 ounce can of evaporated milk can make a full quart of emergency formula. The process is simple, fast, and best of all, does not compromise your child's health.
You will need:

A clean quart container

13 oz. evaporated whole milk (reduced fat, skim, or sweetened condensed milk will not provide your baby enough of the calories or nutrition he needs).

18 - 19 oz. water

2 tablespoons white granulated sugar

Combine the above ingredients into the quart container, and stir until the sugar is fully dissolved. The added sugar will help your child break down the proteins in the evaporated milk. After serving your child, any remaining emergency formula should be refrigerated with any unused portion being discarded after three days.
Congratulations! You have saved the day (night) and have something safe to feed your baby until you can go to the store and get a commercial-grade formula.

Emergency Baby Formula Recipe for Sensitive Stomachs

Unfortunately, not all babies are able to process the lactose in cow's milk that evaporated milk is derived from. For parents with babies with a sensitive stomach try this as your emergency alternate.
Rice Milk
Rice Milk has long been used as a supplement for infants and has the added benefit of making your child feel full. It does not contain all of the needed vitamins, proteins and fat specialized formulas provide to your child, and should not be used as a primary source of nutrition.
You will need:

1 Cup Cooked Rice (can be any type of rice, but Brown rice has more nutritional value)

4 Cups Water

2 Tablespoons White Granulated Sugar

Blender

Combine all ingredients into the blender and blend until all ingredients are completely liquefied. A standard blender will take around 5 minutes for this process to complete.
After serving to your child, refrigerate any unused portion and discard after two days.

Disclaimer

The emergency evaporated milk formula is safe to give to infants 12 months and younger, barring any lactose intolerance, per the World Health Organization.
The evaporated milk formula and rice milk are not a substitute for commercial grade formulas or breastmilk, as they do not include additional vitamin supplements needed to ensure long lasting health in your baby. You should always consult your physician about your child's dietary needs.

How Genie’s Wish started

When mother nature struck the Dayton area on 05.28.2019, many people were affected. Residents of Dayton and surrounding areas were left without electricity, water, and many lost everything. Seeing people displaced and without immediate help, Angie Jones Leblanc decided to jump to action. The very first day she loaded up cases of water to take to the Trotwood area and checked on the community. She continued to go back everyday with water, meals, and supplies. Many times setting up at locations to provide hot meals for anyone in need. Angie met many other good hearted people in the area trying to help as well, and has since teamed up with several others making an impact in many lives.

Genie’s Wish is a nonprofit organization and has expanded our focus beyond disaster relief. While we will continue to help those affected by the tornadoes, we are also hoping to be proactive with the Oregon District, as well as granting wishes to those in need. If you or someone you know is in need of help please reach out to us! Genie’s Wish is made possible by donations made by everyday people and businesses.
