🔥 What an incredible program at the Rotary Club of Dayton! 🔥

We were honored to welcome Sloan Rinaldi, better known as “The Texas Q,” as our guest speaker.

Sloan shared her remarkable journey from overcoming a difficult childhood to becoming an award-winning pitmaster, entrepreneur, author, and television personality featured on Netflix’s Barbecue Showdown and Food Network’s Chopped.

Her message was about much more than barbecue. She spoke about faith, perseverance, vision, and the importance of encouraging others to pursue their dreams regardless of age or circumstances. Members were inspired by her story of turning obstacles into opportunities and building a nationally recognized brand through hard work and determination.

Thank you, Sloan, for sharing your story, your wisdom, and your passion with our club. Your presentation was a powerful reminder that with faith, purpose, and persistence, anything is possible.

🐝 The Rotary Club of Dayton was buzzing with excitement this week as we welcomed Benny McCartney, President of the Liberty County Beekeepers Association, as our guest speaker.

Benny shared fascinating information about honeybees, beekeeping, honey production, and the critical role pollinators play in our food supply and agricultural industry. Members learned how bee colonies function, how bees communicate through the “waggle dance,” and the challenges beekeepers face in maintaining healthy hives.

We also learned about the Liberty County Beekeepers Association’s youth program, which is helping educate the next generation about the importance of bees and environmental stewardship.

Thank you, Benny, for an informative and engaging presentation and for answering so many great questions from our members.

The Rotary Club of Dayton was proud to recognize four exceptional Dayton High School seniors during our annual scholarship presentation. These students represent the future of our community through their leadership, academic excellence, involvement, and dedication to serving others.

We were especially honored to award the inaugural Bill Buchanan Scholarship to Brady Vauter. Bill Buchanan has long been respected throughout Liberty County for his integrity, leadership, service, and commitment to supporting youth and community organizations. This scholarship was created to honor his lasting impact and investment in future generations.

Congratulations to our scholarship recipients:

⭐ Brady Vauter
Recipient of the inaugural Bill Buchanan Scholarship, Brady has demonstrated outstanding leadership through his involvement in FFA, HOSA, National English Honor Society, and numerous school leadership activities. Brady also achieved 8th place nationally in Science Fair competition and helped raise over $25,000 through FFA auction projects. He plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue Finance and Aviation with the goal of becoming a commercial pilot.

⭐ Kaylen Diehl
Kaylen has excelled through her involvement in TAFE, FCCLA, and BPA, where she became a National Finalist. Her commitment to leadership, education, and communication has set her apart both academically and personally. Kaylen plans to attend Texas State University to study Advertising and Communications.

⭐ Domnick Negron
Domnick has shown tremendous dedication in robotics, engineering, and academic competition throughout high school. His passion for innovation and technology has prepared him well for the future as he plans to attend Lamar University majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Electrical Engineering while participating in the robotics program.

⭐ Joy Shumaker
Joy has been actively involved in National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and FCCLA, where she earned recognition as a State Qualifier. Her heart for education and leadership is evident in all she does. Joy plans to attend Sam Houston State University to pursue a degree in Education.

The Rotary Club of Dayton is honored to support these outstanding students as they begin the next chapter of their lives. These scholarships are made possible through the support of our community, fundraising efforts, and our commitment to investing in future leaders.

The Rotary Club of Dayton was honored to welcome Lieutenant Colonel Don Fisher with the Civil Air Patrol as our guest speaker this week.

Lt. Col. Fisher shared the incredible history and mission of the Civil Air Patrol, the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. From World War II coastal patrols to today’s search and rescue missions, disaster response, aerospace education, and cadet leadership programs, the impact of CAP continues to make a difference across our country.

One of the most inspiring parts of the presentation was learning how Civil Air Patrol helps shape young leaders through discipline, responsibility, aviation education, and public service opportunities for youth ages 12-20.

A special thank you to Rotarian Ken DeFoor for introducing the program and sharing stories from his own experience serving with CAP.

The Rotary Club of Dayton appreciates Lt. Col. Fisher for his dedication to service and for taking the time to educate our club and community.

This past Thursday at the Rotary Club of Dayton, we had the opportunity to learn about the incredible impact of Langetree Retreat & Eco Center right here in our community.

Barbara Lange shared how their mission is focused on leadership development, environmental education, and most importantly, providing support and housing for our veterans. Through partnerships and dedication, they have helped dozens of veterans and their families regain stability and move forward with dignity. 

One of the most inspiring parts of the presentation was hearing about the tiny home project, created in partnership with local schools, to provide temporary housing for homeless veterans across multiple counties. This is what real community impact looks like.

Grateful for leaders like Barbara and organizations like Langetree that are stepping up and making a difference.

The Dayton Rotary Club is proud to continue its long-standing support of our incredible FFA and 4-H students as they prepare for the upcoming FFA Show and Rodeo! 🐄🌾

Recently, Dayton High School FFA officers shared how the “100 Club” helps bring the community together to support student livestock projects through the auction—recognizing their hard work, dedication, and commitment.

We’re also excited to give back by providing a meal for students during show week—just a small way to show how much we appreciate everything they do!

📅 Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the annual BBQ lunch and auction on May 9. Come out and support these amazing students and be part of something meaningful in our community!
