💙 LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PEOPLE COME TOGETHER TO SERVE.

The Rotary Club of Dayton is proud of what our members have accomplished together for our community.

Rotary is more than a weekly meeting. It is people rolling up their sleeves, giving their time, raising funds and finding ways to make Dayton and the surrounding community stronger.

Over the past year, our club has been busy:

🎓 Awarding scholarships to local students and investing in their futures.

⭐ Supporting RYLA and youth leadership, helping develop the next generation of leaders.

❤️ Helping local families in need and continuing that mission this year through our Warm Hearts, Warm Homes project.

🧹 Cleaning and improving local bus stops as part of our hands-on community service efforts.

🌳 Supporting community beautification, including our Centennial Tree project and plans for additional tree planting.

🤝 Partnering with local organizations, schools, businesses and community leaders to accomplish more together.

🎁 Raising money for scholarships and community projects so the support we receive goes right back into making a difference.

🇺🇸 Supporting and recognizing our veterans, first responders, educators, students and community leaders.

🌎 Supporting Rotary's worldwide mission, including the fight to eradicate polio and humanitarian efforts that reach far beyond Dayton.

🎤 Bringing important programs to our community on topics including public safety, youth programs, estate planning, energy efficiency, local history and other issues that matter to the people we serve.

🎉 And through it all, we've built friendships, welcomed guests, celebrated our members and had a little fun along the way.

And we're not finished.

There is more service to do.
More students to support.
More families to help.
More relationships to build.
And more opportunities to make Dayton stronger.

We are proud to be People of Action.

If you've been wondering what Rotary is all about, come see it for yourself. We would love to have you as our guest.

BE A PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER.

What makes a community stronger?

People who are willing to show up.

People who care about their neighbors.
People who invest in our young people.
People who build relationships.
People who see a need and ask, “How can we help?”

That is what the Rotary Club of Dayton is about.

We bring together local business owners, professionals, educators, community leaders and neighbors with one common purpose — Service Above Self.

Through Rotary, we are working to:

❤️ Help local families through projects like Warm Hearts, Warm Homes
🎓 Invest in students through scholarships and youth leadership
🤝 Build stronger relationships throughout our community
🌎 Support Rotary's humanitarian work around the world
🏘️ Complete hands-on projects that make Dayton better
⭐ Develop and recognize community leaders
😊 Build friendships and have fun while serving together

But we're not only looking for people to support our projects.

We're looking for people who want to be part of them.

You don't have to be a Rotarian to visit.

Come have lunch with us. Meet our members. Hear from one of our community speakers. See what we're working on.

Then ask yourself one question:

Where could I make a difference?

Rotary Club of Dayton Celebrates Our Community’s History

What a wonderful program at the Rotary Club of Dayton this week. Our members and guests had the opportunity to take a trip back more than 100 years into Dayton’s history with local historian and former Mayor Caroline Wadzeck.

Caroline shared fascinating stories discovered through her research of a January 1920 issue of The Daytonite. One page featured advertisements for 16 local businesses written as clever rhyming jingles. Those jingles became a window into the people, businesses, and entrepreneurs who helped build early Dayton.

We heard stories about Dayton State Bank, Bozeman Drug Store, Smith Jewelry, Loomis Hardware, Merritt’s Café, local garages, pharmacies, mercantile stores, and many others. We also learned about some remarkable Dayton residents, including Dora Bozeman, an early businesswoman whose many roles included pharmacist, hotel operator, undertaker and embalmer, postmaster, and candidate for public office.

One lesson stood out: while the businesses and technology have changed, the fundamentals have not. More than a century ago, Dayton businesses were already focused on customer service, quality, competitive prices, community relationships, and good advertising.

We also celebrated our Rotarian Spotlight, Livia Callahan. Livia serves as Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning for Dayton ISD and is a member of our club’s Youth Services/RYLA Committee. Her dedication to education, young people, and our community reflects Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self.

A special thank you to Caroline Wadzeck for preserving and sharing the stories that make Dayton special, and to Rotarian Brooks Hiller for bringing this program to our club.

History reminds us where we came from. Service helps determine where we go next.

Interested in learning more about Rotary? We would love to have you join us for a meeting.
