Join Access to Excess and Fifth Street Brew Pub for an evening of good food, drinks, and a fundraiser on Thursday, October 1, from 5-9 PM.

Held at Fifth Street Brew Pub, this fundraiser will help support Access to Excess' mission in reducing food waste in the Miami Valley and ensure that good food reaches people, not landfills. Guests can enjoy food and drinks while supporting a great cause, plus take part in a raffle!

10% of sales will be donated to Access to Excess, as well as 100% of raffle proceeds.

Did you know that roughly 75,000 tons of food are wasted in Montgomery County each year? That’s enough food to equal approximately 356,000 meals — enough to feed every person living below the poverty line in Montgomery County.

Organizations like Access to Excess are working to rescue surplus food and connect it with people who need it. We encourage you to support their work and do your part at home by planning meals before you shop, storing food properly, freezing extra food, and finding creative ways to use leftovers.

Together, we can waste less and help more food reach our community.

Our October 1 fundraiser at Fifth Street Brewpub is for the boring stuff! 🤎

We’re raising money for fuel, insurance, electricity, vehicle maintenance, and the everyday costs of rescuing and redistributing food.

Mark your calendar and plan to come hang out with us! We’ll have the best raffle baskets in town, a portion of your food and drink purchases will support ATE, and Kelly will be there too! 💜

We get these questions a lot! So here’s a reminder about how Access to Excess works!

We’re a food rescue, not a food pantry. Our goal is to reduce food waste by finding people for surplus food.

We don’t have regular distribution days or hours because we never know what we’re going to get, when we’ll get it or how much we’ll get. Extra food comes our way when it comes our way and our job is to get it where people can use it. That may be our free food stand in Trotwood, another organization, or a public community event.

We use social media to share what we’ve been up to, so the pictures you see are always after the fact.

We’re a tiny organization and most of our time is spent moving food! We often don’t have the time or the answers to respond to messages or phone calls about food availability.
