📣 WE ARE RECRUITING FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR 2026📣

🌍 UNA-USA Davis is entering an exciting new chapter — and we’re looking for passionate, community-minded leaders to help guide what comes next!

Many of our current Board members, who have helped rebuild and grow the chapter in recent years, will be completing their terms at the end of 2025. Their transition opens the door for new voices, new ideas, and fresh leadership to step forward.

If you’ve ever considered becoming more involved with UNA Davis, now is the perfect time.

🌍 Happy United Nations Day 2025! 🌍

Today we join the world in celebrating 80 years of the United Nations — 80 years of working toward peace, human rights, and a sustainable future for all. 💙

We’re also proud to share that the City of Davis officially recognized this milestone with a Proclamation honoring United Nations Day, presented this past Tuesday (pictured below). In celebration, City Hall is flying the UN Flag today — a beautiful reminder of our city’s commitment to global cooperation and peace. 🇺🇳✨

Join us this Sunday, October 26 from 3–5 PM at International House Davis for our UN Day Celebration: Building Our Future Together!
Enjoy inspiring student presentations, art from local 6th graders, and a keynote address by Jarrett James Lash, the 14th UNA-USA Youth Observer to the UN.

The UN is under threat—and our voices matter. Congress has just approved a $9 billion rescissions package that guts funding for vital UN programs, from UNICEF and UNDP to peacekeeping and sustainable development. It’s a serious setback for global cooperation and human rights.

But this is not the time to disengage. It’s time to get louder.

Join us on Tuesday, July 29 at 5 PM for a special virtual UNA Davis Board Meeting (open to all members) to discuss what’s happening and how we can respond. Let us know if you’d like to attend, and we’ll send you the details.

🚨 URGENT ACTION NEEDED 🚨

UNA Davis members and friends,

Congress is considering a dangerous $9.4 billion rescissions package that would slash funding for life-saving global programs—vaccine delivery, food aid, global health, and peacekeeping are all on the chopping block.

If Congress doesn’t act by July 18, this harmful proposal will expire—but until then, anything can happen. We can’t afford to stay silent.

These cuts would:
❌ Undermine U.S. global leadership
❌ Disrupt humanitarian aid
❌ Make the world—and Americans—less safe

U.S. funding for the United Nations is under threat—putting critical programs like refugee aid, global health, and food security on the chopping block. Despite bipartisan support, eliminated funding has risked lives and weakening U.S. global leadership.

As a National Council Member, I’m proud to share that our advocates were on Capitol Hill this week, urging Congress to protect and preserve these vital programs.
