🚨SCAM ALERT🚨 LPD is warning about a scammer posing as an LPD Sergeant.

A Lincoln woman got a call yesterday from someone claiming to be Sgt. Alton/Aldon saying she had to pay $500 for an ankle monitor program for someone in jail, which she sent through CashApp. Then he called back again, pressuring her to send more. Thankfully, she did not.

🚩 Look out for red flags:

• Scammers use urgency so you'll act quickly
• LPD will NEVER ask you for money, in person or over the phone
• There is no Sergeant Alton/Aldon at LPD

✅ How to protect yourself:

• Ask for their name, badge & case number
• Call LPD non-emergency at 402-441-6000 to verify an officer's identity, employment status and attempt to contact you

If this happens to you, please do not pay and report it to LPD immediately.
