One Eighty Prevent. Reach. Develop. Purpose

One Eighty exists to bring hope, love and opportunity to people and communities impacted by crisis, poverty, or addiction.
(1)

One Eighty equips people facing crisis, poverty and addiction to invest in healthy relationships, overcome barriers to freedom, and encounter a life of hope in Christ. Mission

One Eighty prevents crisis, poverty, and addiction before it happens, reaches out to those who are in crisis, poverty, and addiction and develops those who were in crisis, poverty, and addiction. We do this by helping peopl

e build a relationship with Jesus Christ and assisting local churches and organizations to connect with their communities. Vision

We are working to set people and communities free from crisis, poverty, and addiction. To prevent crisis, poverty, and addiction before it happens. To reach out to those in crisis, poverty, and addiction. To develop those who were in crisis, poverty, and addiction.

It's Tuesday...so we know these three - Cheryl, Vicki and Terri from Raw and Real - will be at our Women's House tonight!

They've been serving with our women on Tuesday nights for SEVEN YEARS!

That's a whole lot of commitment and consistency. And it's resulted in deep relationships and a lot of love, tears and laughs.

What is their secret? Here's how they described their time opening God's Word and sharing their lives with our women.

"One of us kicks 'em in the pants. The next one pulls them along. And the third one just comes in and loves them."

Sounds like some truth and love....just like Jesus said! And they will tell you this time with the women at One Eighty has changed their lives as much as it's changed our ladies.

Thank you all for serving like Jesus.

If you are ready to go deep with someone in recovery as a mentor or Bible study teacher, please reach out to us!

Prior to coming to One Eighty, Robynne worked as a tattoo artist. And now that she is building a new life, she is discovering new ways to use her gifts.

Our Women's Home is creating a unique healing environment for our women by decorating each bedroom with a theme. And Robynne has created custom artwork to accompany each theme. And does she know how to create!

This first piece was made for our "Safe Haven" room - and now encourages the woman who has found a refuge in the Lord and at One Eighty during this time. The second piece is for the Tranquility Room.

Thank you Robynne for sharing your creativity with us!

Shout out to our resident Lori who is making waves as part of the Argrow's House Workforce Development Program. She's learning to make bath products, drinks in the cafe and starting the Servsafe Food Handler course. High five to Lori and everyone there.

We are so grateful for the good people and the good work going on at Argrow's House - and the opportunity to collaborate with them.

Freedom is starting a brand new career at age 58 for Steven.

All his life he worked in concrete. But that work also was tied up in his abuse of drugs and alcohol. So when Steven came to One Eighty, met the Lord and pursued a new way to live, he also wanted a new career.

He enrolled in CDL education with Scott Community College and officially graduated the program last week! That means he is qualified to drive the big rigs wherever needed, and certified not to hit any of those curbs. Steven is now deciding which opportunities among the many companies recruiting him will best fit his new future.

Well done Steven! We are excited to see where this new license on life takes you!!

Did you know?

Any given day of the year, we serve about 60 people in our residential recovery program - people living here for a year as they rebuild their lives. And we provide transportation to all our people - to their workforce readiness job training site, to the doctor, to the store, to church. It's why we own 27 vehicles!

Because when you are rebuilding a life you can't wait to live, you've got to be able to get there first!

A big thank you to Scott County Regional Authority, The Bechtel Trusts, and The Sheila Murphy Foundation for their recent grants to help cover our fuel costs.

Thanks to Redeemer Lutheran Church and our friends at Thrivent (Lillie Huhndorf - Thrivent) for making this shred and give event possible. And boy, oh boy, are we excited to receive all that toilet paper! Always a need around these parts!

Some stories are almost more than the heart can take. The pain, the tragedy, the triumph, the victory - it's all here. And it's real life. In Davenport, Iowa. In Tavis...a guy we all know and love.

Tavis has made tremendous strides - overcoming a traumatic childhood, addiction, gangs, violence and a life-threatening injury. The man he is today is only due to the grace of Jesus in his life, and he knows it.

Sit back and marvel at what the Lord can do!
