This weekend, some of our ladies took the Channel Cat, enjoyed the river, laughed together, and made some new memories.

Some of the most valuable parts of recovery are the people you build it with and learning that life can be full, meaningful, and fun again without the things that once controlled and defined you.

Sobriety gives you a fresh start but true recovery is building a life worth staying sober for.

Nothing says freedom quite like being baptized alongside your new brothers in Christ.

Congratulations to Armando, Tim, Kye, Josh, and Ben as we celebrate their public declaration that they are new creations in Christ!

Armando shared, “I was baptized as a child, but I wanted to do it again now to wash away my sins and have a fresh start.” And what a fresh start it is.

We are so proud of these incredible men and grateful to stand with them as they continue walking in the freedom and new life found in Jesus!

Our residents already have full weeks with work, classes, church, and so much more - but instead of simply taking it easy during their downtime, these guys choose to take every opportunity to keep growing.

One of our newer residents, who has a background in public speaking, organized an optional speaking class for the house. On Sunday night, four residents shared their testimonies, (incredible stories!) received thoughtful feedback from their peers, and even came prepared with visual aids!

When I told them how impressed I was by their initiative, they were quick to say how important it is to them not to waste a minute and to take full advantage of all they can while they are here. So proud of their desire to become all God has called them to be!

Fun fact: we have about 300 Pivot Partners - and a bunch of them joined us for lunch last week!

A BIG thank you to our Pivot Partners who believe so deeply in our mission that they give every month. Kind of like a "subscription to generosity." After all - saving and rebuilding lives is WORTH the commitment!

We are celebrating this compilation of "miracles" we've witnessed over the past month! We thank the Lord for allowing us to see Him at work daily.

*One graduate experienced a long and genuine hug from his teenage son. It brought him to tears. Thank you God for reconciliation.
*A resident received an extra blessing when a volunteer gifted her a meaningful photo with Scripture. She said it felt like the Lord speaking directly to her - you are right where you need to be!
*Two of our female graduates were accepted into the Highway Construction Career Training Program - a very competitive program that pays you while you learn and prepare for a position in the trades. What a bright future they have!
*One of our ladies got a new set of teeth and feels like a million bucks.
*One graduate was not in his daughter's life for the past 14 years, but she reconnected with him this month (and mom gave her blessing!). "I'm getting a chance to be a dad again."
*God used our recent alumni reunion to draw several alumni who haven't stayed connected back into fellowship with us.
*One of our graduates just got moved from second shift to first shift - a reward for his consistency and job well done. Now he can develop a healthier routine that includes participation in our support groups, Bible studies and church.
*We survived two retreats so far this summer with no injuries. (Can't quite say the same thing about the kickball game against YouthHope - wah wah).
*One graduate has started reffing sports as a side hustle and discovered how much fun it is. He's now applying to become certified to ref high school games.
*A resident just hit two years sober and landed two new jobs! Go Justin!
*Our new alumni T-shirts have caused at least two people to stop an alum and request prayer. Love it!

We hear it's back to school week...and all those moms and dads out there are organizing backpacks and lunchboxes for the new year! If you have any extras you no longer need...please pass them our way! Our men and women in our residential recovery program really like being able to keep their sandwich cold and their books together so they can show up prepared to learn and work - just like your kiddos.

And a big thanks to Teri who saw our post about needs last week and stepped up to send us 13 brand new lunch boxes! Our residents were thrilled!

Sometimes it's the little things that make another day possible!

Note: Any used or new backpack or lunchbox donations can be dropped off at our campus at 601 N Marquette Street in Davenport, Monday - Friday between 8 am and 4 pm.
