The Applachian Audubon Society has been sending students ages 14-17 to Hog Island, Maine, operated by the National Audubon Society under the Seabird Institute. There is a scholarship opportunity for students who have an interest in the sciences- biology, zoology, ornithology, ecology, and conservation. They are accepting applications through the end of January. The students pay nothing - room and board is covered and the students have opportunities to learn about other ecosystems and environments they may not have access to.

Thank you wonderful Volunteers!
The fundraising season came to an end on Sunday, February 11 which was the last day of the Great Outdoor Show.
The first weekend was crazy busy. On Sunday, February 5, the milkshake stand had the longest line in the food court.
On any day the teams of volunteers found their groove and were able to keep the line moving efficiently. Any hold up would have been at the Square which processes the payments because the milkshakes were ready for the customers as they walked by to pick them up.
A customer said our line moved the fastest of any of the lines they had waited in.
There were a couple days during the day, during the week that we were short staffed. People have to work, kids have to go to school which is understandable. Some volunteers worked longer than the shift they had signed up for. Other volunteers worked extra days. All in all, we got through.
We were fully staffed towards the end of the week with everyone working to capacity. One day one 4-H’er was disappointed at first that there wasn’t enough business but as the day progressed their wish was fulfilled and we were very busy. I think they were glad when the shift was over.
Everyone planned ahead and were on time, if not a bit early, considering some had to part off site because the parking lots were full.
Thank you again for your efforts to earn the funds to run the Dauphin County 4-H program for 2024. You rock!!!

A heart felt THANK YOU to those of you who volunteered at the Information Booths during Farm Show! I enjoyed working with all of you!
Amidst showing your projects you also showed your dedication to 4-H. Thank you again!
We are heading into the third of three fundraisers for this 4-H year at the Great Outdoor Show that will run from February 3-11 during which we will be selling milkshakes. Linda has sent out emails so you will have a chance to sign up. Many of you have already taken the opportunity to choose your preferred spot.
