Hi everyone,

Quick update on our Family Fishing Weekend, happening October 23–25 at Mid-River Motel & Campground in Altmar, NY, in partnership with Grateful Adventures!
Spots remaining:

🎣 Saturday: 1 spot left
🎣 Sunday: 2 spots left

This is a free event for kids — no cost to participate, and lunch and dinner are provided. Aiden from Let It Fly Guide Services and Marcus from Grateful Adventures will be back out on the water with us again this year.

Reminder: kids will need to bring their own waders (regular boots won't cut it for wading the river — but you don't need fancy wading boots/korkers).

If you'd like to grab one of the last spots, reach out to us as soon as possible — spots are first come, first served!

🎣 FAMILY FISHING WEEKEND IS BACK! 🎣

Last year these kids caught more than fish — they got a weekend they'll never forget. So we're doing it again.
October 23–25, we're heading to Mid-River Motel & Campground in Altmar, right on the Salmon River, with Marcus from Grateful Adventures helping put kids on the water. Aiden from Let It Fly Guide Services and the rest of the crew who made last year unforgettable are back out there — and yeah, my own boy's gonna be right in the mix with them.

✅ No cost to participate
✅ Lunch and dinner provided
✅ Limited spots, real one-on-one time with experienced guys

Spots update: just a couple left for Saturday — Sunday's wide open with 6 slots available.
Kids will need to bring their own waders (regular boots won't cut it out on the river).

This is just a chance to give a few families' kids a weekend they might not otherwise get — space is kept small on purpose, so every kid gets real time with a guide.
Big thanks to Marcus and Aiden for making this happen again. Both of them still have a couple of open dates on their own calendars this season, too.

Well folks it's about that time of the year again! We are excited to see your trophies! We wish everyone a safe and happy hunting season. Don't forget one lucky hunter/ huntress on a first come first service basis gets a free mount done if it's their first harvest! We have a couple added changes this season, we won't be accepting any rotten or stinking heads, so please keep them frozen or cool till you can get them to us. Next, you will have one week after being contacted to pick your head up (unless you have an emergency, which is understandable). Every week not picked up is $20 dollars a week for storage fee! We have had too many heads sit here for months completed! Thanks for the business and if any questions don't hesitate to ask! Good luck folks!

Ending the summer on a high note. 🎣

This season didn’t go exactly the way we planned. We had plenty of setbacks along the way, but in the end, we were still able to get about a dozen kids out this summer and give them some time to fish, explore, learn, and just have a good time.

Most importantly, we finished the year by getting kids out fishing right here in our local area. That’s what this is really about.

One of the parents told me, “Thank you for showing my son what resiliency looks like.” That meant a lot to me. Sometimes getting these things done isn’t easy, and sometimes you have to keep figuring it out as you go. But seeing the kids enjoying themselves makes it worth it.

A huge thank you to the people who helped make this weekend happen:

Val — for leading the team with lure making, boat mechanics, and, of course, helping get fish in the boat.

Bob — for coming up and taking care of so much behind the scenes to help get everything ready.

iFishLakeChaplain — thank you for giving the kids two busy mornings of your time and teaching them about lake trout, how to fish for them, and what it takes to be successful on the lake.
And thank you to everyone else who helped, donated, encouraged us, or simply believed in what we’re trying to do.

Lastly Bass Pro for providing every child a gentle refurbished rod.

We may not have everything figured out for next year yet. We need to find a way to make this sustainable and work within a realistic budget. But for this year, I’m proud that we kept going and ended with kids on the water, fish being caught, and some memories that they’ll hopefully carry with them for a long time.

That’s a pretty good way to end the season. 🎣🇺🇸

Some people spend their time talking.

We spend ours changing lives.

This weekend, more kids were on the water making memories instead of sitting behind a screen. More conversations were had with people fighting addiction in the area. More smiles, more hope, and another promise kept to this community.

Congratulations to all of our giveaway winners from this year's event. I wouldn't be able to pull off any events without the support of the community. We want to start by giving a thank you to Captain Mike Tarasavage for donating his time and helping make another incredible event possible.

To the people who continue to doubt what we're building—keep watching.

The noise doesn't catch fish. The noise doesn't mentor a kid. The noise doesn't help someone in recovery. The noise doesn't build a stronger community. Actions do.

We'll let the work speak for itself and as we appreciate every volunteer that steps up to help me run our events.

Looking for a summer camp your child will never forget?

Our Reeling for Recovery Youth Fishing Camp is hosted at the beautiful Camp Little Notch, an American Camp Association (ACA) Accredited Camp. ACA accreditation is the gold standard for youth camps, meaning Camp Little Notch meets nationally recognized standards for safety, staff training, program quality, and camper care. Parents can have confidence knowing their children are in a professionally operated environment.

Camp Little Notch is one of the Adirondacks' hidden treasures. Their staff works year-round to preserve the camp's natural beauty while providing a clean, safe, welcoming environment where kids can grow, explore, and gain confidence outdoors.

For just $450, campers receive:

🎣 A Huge Thank You to Bass Pro Shops Clifton Park! 🎣
We are incredibly grateful to the team at Bass Pro Shops for their generous donation of 18 fishing rod and reel combos to support the youth we serve through Reeling For Recovery.

These donated combos include a variety of quality name-brand setups, including spinning and baitcasting equipment that will help introduce more young people to the sport of fishing and the outdoors.

This equipment will be put to work immediately through: ✅ Our Summer Camp Fishing Program
✅ Camper of the Week Fishing Experiences
✅ Our partnership programming with the Schenectady County Probation Department

Fishing teaches patience, responsibility, confidence, and respect for nature. Donations like this help ensure that every young person who wants to participate has the opportunity to get out on the water and create positive memories.

We are excited to place these rods into the hands of campers this summer and use them to help build connections, mentorship opportunities, and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.
