Parents - public schools must allow you to opt your child out of teaching that violates your faith. This is not a "Trump era" matter but a finding of constitutional rights by the Supreme Court.

"In Mahmoud v. Taylor, the court sided with parents who asked that they be notified and given the chance to opt their children out of instruction that violates their faith on matters of s*xuality."

This goes beyond what the school district now allows for "s*x education" courses but to apply to any classroom instruction such as English or Math or other subjects where DEI coursework is assigned.

But parents you must be proactive and demand your school district tell you of these types of subject matters ahead of time and communicate your wishes that your child be opted out of such teaching. Each fall you receive a package of materials from your child's school district - you need to read it page by page as there is a lot of information in that package. And have a respectful conversation with your child's teacher(s) about what is being taught in the classroom. Knowledge is power.

The Court's 6-3 ruling in Mahmoud v. Taylor means parents can choose to educate their children according to their faith.

California has been pushing men in women's sports for many years via AB 1266 (since its passage in 2012) forcing women to tolerate men being in women's locker rooms and bath rooms. It appears those days are numbered.

The Trump administration announces that it has reached a landmark settlement with UPenn over males in women's sports.

Important: This week you should receive a ballot in the special election for the 36th California State Senate. Election Day is February 25th. Tony Strickland (former Assemblyman and current member of the Huntington Beach City Council) is running. I have known Tony for many years and he is doing GREAT things at the City. If Tony receives 51% or more of the vote on February 25th he will be elected.

Why is this special election important for education? Last year AB 1955 (the new law that forbid locally elected school boards from passing rules to allow school staff from telling parents when their child is having mental "gender confusion issues") was introduced in the State Senate Education Committee. And AB 1955 is only the last in a long list of education bills that affect parental rights passed by anti-parent Sacramento. Tony will be a voice for parents and their rights.

Fourteen years ago we saw this type of union fomented recall of a conservative and fiscally responsible CUSD Board of Trustees put in union friendly trustees who immediately redid the budget and teacher union contract. The results: younger teachers were laid off and class sizes were increased.

Earlier this year the same thing happened in Orange Unified. Now that District is suffering a financial shortfall. Look for bad things to happen to students in that District while the union continues to receive their 10% raises the District can't afford.

Will history repeat itself with Capo's Board of Trustees and the CUEA (the CAPO teachers union)? You can bank on that happening. And by the way, CUSD is also a declining enrollment District.

They may not care much about education, but give teacher union leaders in the city of Orange, California, credit for speed and political ingenuity.

Well....

First returns are in:

3 out of 4 seats is a great result. To obtain the majority we need all 4, but to have 3 of the 4 is a clear indictment of the current boards policies and actions.

The spread is likely too wide to pick up the 4th seat, but regardless - GREAT EFFORT everyone and congratulations to Lisa, Z and Jennifer for beating incumbents (a feat rarely achieved), and to Lisa D for her decisive win.

NOW - the next issue will be the games the union will play to try and foist chaos on the district because their majority is now threatened. With these folks it will never end.

At my home... we just received another FLUFF piece for Hanacek... THE UNION DARLING....

In it they claim how superawesome she is because the graduation rate is 97%!!!!! but.... She represents Dana Hills - and theirs is only 94%! DOH!

AND... the rest of the story is that Graduation Rates are what they are because they pass the kids through without proficiency. SO... the claim is really specious at best.

The sitting board is failing our community...

Proficiency is terrible and less than 1 in 3 are ready for college!

YES... LESS THAN 1 in 3 ARE READY FOR COLLEGE -

Maybe they should focus on academics instead of their social agendas...
