The Pacific Beach Coalition is a registered nonprofit organization. Together we represent a powerful force for positive change. By picking up litter, restoring habitat, or making small changes in our lives we can help protect the health of the ocean. We are creating a model community of citizens who protect wildlife by eliminating litter, reducing storm water pollution, and protecting our beaches,

creeks, and storm drains through citizen action. Our intent is to make changes in our community and guide other communities in the Bay Area, California, USA and the world to do the same. There's a new Honoree in town, and it is the steelhead trout! 👏👏👏

This ecologically and culturally significant wildlife highlights the interconnectedness between the ocean and our coastal waterways.

We invite you to join our "Clean It Out for Steelhead Trout" campaign to continue stewarding the local watershed that these resilient fish call home. ⛰️🌊

What's an Honoree? 🤔 Well, the full title we give these year-long mascots is the title of "Earth Honoree." They guide our educational outreach till next spring, so stay tuned for more opportunities to learn about this incredible local species!

Rockaway is on a ROLLLLLLL

☀️ On what was easily one of the most bright, and sunny days the Rockaway PBC team has seen recently, a massive wave of stewardship hit the shore. 🌊

Thank you to the 1️⃣1️⃣0️⃣ Volunteers came and removed 50 lbs of trash, which included a large group from .healthcare

🧐 Strange & Unusual Finds:
▫️Chewed-up traffic cone 🚧
▫️Broken sign from a seafood restaurant 🦀
▫️Baby rattle 👶
▫️& for the first time ever: A weird little drone! 🛸

🏫 Drew took his stewardship to an elementary school in San Jose, proving that you don't have to be at the beach to be an Earth Hero! 🌎🦸‍♂️

Through our Street to Beach program, Drew spent 2.5 hours cleaning up the local school's grounds. 👏👏👏

Did you know that students and adults can earn community service hours anytime, anywhere? Our Street to Beach program allows you to:

📍 Pick your own location (parks, schools, or your own block!), on your own schedule!

Do it for your neighbors, greater community or for your future self, whatever reason you have to take action we encourage and applaud it. 🌎

If you feel inspired to do just that by these clips or by 's eloquent words, join us each weekend around the Bay Area's Peninsula to improve our coast via cleanups and habitat restoration. 🌱

Our Street to Beach program is another great way to spread effort and attention to neighborhoods near and far. 🫵 You don't have to be in the Bay or California to participate, everyone is welcome, at any time!

We 🩵 Nicole and all our Earth Heroes who have come out so far in 2026 to TAKE ACTION for our coast.

Plastics 💳 and fishing gear 🎣 are unfortunately typical categories of each beach cleanup's trash haul. 👎

We'll be having our monthly Rockaway Beach (the California one) cleanup this Saturday (3/7) from 9-11 AM.
📍Meet us at the corner of the North Beach parking lot, near the Best Western. ALL are welcome!

Not only did the sun come out for our monthly Mussel Rock cleanup and habitat restoration, but we were treated to our first gray whale sightings of the season! 🐳✨

4️⃣1️⃣ volunteers, including an energetic group of nine from Mills High School, took ACTION for OUR coast.

📊 The stats:

71 lbs of trash & 11 lbs of recycling removed 🚮

455 cigarette butts intercepted 🚭

68 lbs of invasive green-waste cleared 🌿

Thank you to everyone who showed up to make a difference! We'll be back here on March 28th to do it again!

🙌🫶 As we wrap up our year learning and celebrating the brown pelican, let's take one last moment to celebrate the resilient and graceful brown pelican. ✨

🌊 Master Divers: They can plunge from heights of 60 feet, using special adaptations to lessen the impact!

🌊 A Success Story: Once endangered due to DDT, their presence today is a testament to what happens when we prioritize conservation. 📈

The best way to love pelicans is to keep their home clean!

👉 Pack it out: Fishing line and hooks are a major threat—always dispose of them in proper bins. 🎣

👉 Give them space: If they are resting on the beach, give them a wide berth so they can conserve energy. 😴 Fur-babies included!

☀️ Sun, stewardship, and smiles at Linda Mar! 🌊🧤

Mother Nature looked out for us this weekend! After a week of rain, the sun came out just in time for Linda Mar beach's February cleanup.

83 volunteers collected:

🪣 109 lbs of trash
🚬 453 cigarette filters
🥫 15 lbs of recycling

From locals to first-time college clubs and high schoolers earning service hours, we cleared out broken glass, heavy wood, and a growing number of vapes—keeping those toxic chemicals out of the water and away from our marine and coastal friends. 🐬✨

We'd love to see you back at Pacifica State beach next month on March 21st! 📅 Mark your calendars for April 18th, when we will celebrate Earth Day! 🌍

A single morning of leadership can result in the removal of over 5,000 cigarette butts! 🌍

We are looking for passionate individuals who want to connect with others, share their voice, and make a tangible difference right here on our coast.💙

Specifically, we need dedicated volunteers to step up as site captains for our Foster City sites! Assistants and lead site captains lead cleanups just one Sunday a month (9-11AM). We provide all training and gear.

📍 Foster City is special amongst our programs, as the location changes each month, they're determined far in advance. This means both large amounts of litter and a fantastic turnout of dedicated volunteers every time!

Plastic debris comes in all shapes and sizes, and thankfully we have awesome volunteers like these youth who spent the TIME and EFFORT to make a REAL difference in Half Moon Bay recently. 🙌

On this day, 85 volunteers picked up:
🪣 156 lbs of trash, 🥫14 lbs of recycling, 🚭 617 cigarette filters.

🗓️ Our next Harbor/Surfers Beach cleanup in HMB will be on February 28th from 9-11AM, we'd love to have your energy and effort towards steward OUR coastline.
