Why I Do This
As a first-generation college student, there were many struggles and unknowns. I was born in Mexico and my family and me migrated to the United States when I was 4 years old. My family was never eligible for any government assistance or financial assistance for any medical needs. I recall my father working long hours 6 days a week to provide for his family of 6. His ambition and my mothers unconditional love, guidance, and support served as a motivation to exceed in my education. During my first year of college, I attended a job fair. During the job fair an interview was arranged for Children's Medical Center Dallas. At this time, I didn't have any knowledge and funds to dress appropriately for the interview. I will forever be ashamed about wearing jeans to my interview. Yes, I said it. I wore jeans for the interview. This is why I have begun this journey to help those in need.
