Our 2026 National Polka Festival King & Queen, Chris and Rebecca (Becca) Snapka, spent yesterday enjoying the Po.L.K.of A. Dance in the Taiton community alongside their children. ❤️

Their son, Henry, who proudly serves as the 2026 National Polka Festival Prince, joined in the festivities as well. It’s always wonderful to see our festival royalty celebrating and supporting the rich traditions of Czech heritage and polka music with family.

Also pictured are the 2026 National Polka Festival King & Queen runners-up, David Kocurek and Kelly Pfeifer, along with Past National Polka Festival King & Queen Michael and Deborah Logue. Thank you all for continuing to support and celebrate our Czech heritage and the traditions that make our festival so special.

Today we recognize our friend Robert Slovak. A vocal advocate and supporter of the National Polka Festival, Robert spent many years volunteering and providing resources to help the festival grow. He did it for little more than his love of the NPF itself and pride in his Czech heritage. When called, he and his family have always made themselves available to solve whatever problem we faced.

At one time, the main downtown activities were organized outside of the Sports Connection and Ennis Gym. For many years, Robert and Merrijo selflessly opened their doors to allow storage and usage of their buildings in order to ease logistics for food booth volunteers. When the time came that we needed to reinvent and downsize the food booth, Robert and John stepped in to create and build the booth that we still actively use today.

Fewer people in the world today are willing to do things with no expectation of a return, but Robert was one of the few. He loved his family and friends, he stood firm on his beliefs, and he always enjoyed a good time. Like all of our volunteers, he was part of our polka family.

We will miss him dearly.

The 60th National Polka Festival has officially come to an end and what a time it was! We cannot thank each and everyone of you enough for showing up to make this one of the best years we’ve ever seen!

Thank you to all of our volunteers that make this possible. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication to keeping the Czech heritage alive.
