October is Clergy Appreciation Month, a time to honor those who preach the Word, shepherd congregations, and serve their communities. Focus on the Family began promoting this observance in 1994, encouraging churches to recognize pastors and their families throughout October. Its biblical foundation reaches much further back: Paul urged believers to esteem those who labor among them in love because of their work (1 Thessalonians 5:12–13). (focusonthefamily.ca)

At Dallas Bible Theological Institute, we recognize that much of a pastor’s most meaningful work happens beyond the pulpit. It happens beside hospital beds, through difficult conversations, in hours of study, and in prayers for people who may never know their names were called.

To the local pastor and preacher: the size of your congregation does not determine the significance of your calling. Every person you disciple, every grieving family you comfort, and every sermon you faithfully prepare matters.

Keep growing. Make room for rest. Receive care as willingly as you give it. You are a person God loves, even when you are away from the pulpit.

“How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:15, KJV.

We see your service. We honor your faithfulness. We thank God for you.

Pastors need seasons to rest, renew, and hear from God too.

At DBA’s Annual Meeting, Pastor Daniel Camp and Dr. Marlow McGuire will lead a workshop on How to Take a Sabbatical.

What does a healthy sabbatical look like? How can a pastor and church prepare for one well?

This is one of several practical workshops available Thursday, October 1 at First Baptist Richardson.

We hope you’ll join us for the entire morning and stay for lunch around the table.

Since 1943, Dallas Bible Theological Institute has prepared faithful leaders to serve the Church and strengthen our communities.

Our history is more than a record of where we have been. It is the foundation for where we are going. Every student we educate represents a future pastor, teacher, ministry leader, mentor, and servant who will carry biblical truth into churches, families, and communities throughout Dallas and beyond.

On North Texas Giving Day, your generosity helps move this mission forward. Your gift invests in the calling of today’s students and the future impact of tomorrow’s leaders.

Our legacy continues through every leader we prepare and every life they influence.

Your gift. Their calling. Our city.

Give early beginning August 27 or join us on September 17, 2026.

THROWBACK THURSDAY | DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that Rev. Marvin C. Griffin made history and helped shape the future of theological education in Dallas?

Rev. Marvin C. Griffin became the Director of Dallas Bible Theological Institute and made history as the first African American graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

But his legacy extended far beyond the classroom.

A longtime pastor and trailblazing civic leader, Rev. Griffin understood the importance of preparing people for ministry even those who could not follow a traditional seminary path.

When Rev. Griffin came to work with the school, a school for adults was begun.

This was a significant step in expanding theological education to those already serving, working, raising families, and answering God’s call to ministry.

Today, we continue that legacy by equipping men and women for faithful service to Christ and His Church.

Yesterday’s pioneers helped build the foundation.
Today, we carry the mission forward.

What if your gift today trains the pastor who will transform Dallas tomorrow?

For 81 years, Dallas Bible Theological Institute has quietly done one thing: Equip faithful leaders to preach, teach, and serve. Since 1943.

I’m Dr. Marlow McGuire, President of DBTI, and I’m personally inviting you to be part of our story.
On North Texas Giving Day — Sept. 17th, your gift does more than give. It invests.

INVEST in a student answering the call.
EQUIP them with a Bible-centered education.
EMPOWER them to engage Dallas for Christ.

Early Giving is open NOW through Sept 17.

Every gift, $25, $100, $500, multiplies our impact.
