If U.S. Latinos were their own country, they’d have the 4th largest economy on Earth. According to a 2026 report from UCLA and Cal Lutheran, U.S. Latino economic output hit $4.4 trillion in 2024, bigger than Japan’s, making it the fastest-growing of any major economy in the world.

That growth isn’t happening somewhere far away. It’s happening here in Texas, where Latinos make up a huge share of the workforce, start businesses at some of the highest rates in the country, and drive entire sectors of the state’s economy. Numbers like these are a reminder that Latino economic power isn’t a future projection; it’s already shaping the present. The question is whether our policy, our investment, and our leadership are keeping up with it.

At TXHPF, we work to make sure that story is told with the data behind it, and that Texas leaders understand what this community contributes. The numbers speak for themselves.

Throwback to 2024, when Rep. Pete Aguilar, the highest-ranking Latino ever elected to House leadership, took the national stage as Chair of the House Democratic Caucus. Moments like this matter to us at TXHPF because representation at the highest levels of government shapes the policies and priorities that affect Latino communities across Texas and the nation. Whether you lean left, right, or somewhere in between, seeing our community reflected in leadership is worth recognizing. Here’s to continuing the work of civic engagement and amplifying Latino voices in every corner of American politics.

Senator John McCain returned to the Senate floor just days after his cancer diagnosis to deliver a speech that still resonates: urging his colleagues to look beyond party lines, trust one another, and choose service over self for the American people.

As a nonpartisan organization, Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation holds ourselves to that same standard every day, putting people over politics and working to advance policies that strengthen Texas families and communities, regardless of party. McCain’s words are a reminder that our democracy works best when we lead with integrity, humility, and a shared commitment to the common good. Follow for more insights.

“Become informed citizens and not just reactive.” - Justice Sonia Sotomayor

Speaking on The View, the first Hispanic and Latina Supreme Court Justice offered a message that reaches far beyond any single ruling: pay attention, understand the decisions coming out of the Court, and don’t wait until they reach your doorstep to engage.

As the Court hands down decisions that shape the lives of families and communities across the country, Justice Sotomayor’s reminder is a simple but powerful one, democracy asks all of us to stay informed, ask questions, and understand how these decisions affect the people around us.

At TXHPF, that’s exactly the kind of civic engagement we work to build here in Texas. Follow for more insights.

On the Latino Vote podcast, Mike Madrid speaks about how Texas Hispanic community is not a single story, it is made up of multiple generations, different experiences, and diverse paths that continue to shape our state. Understanding the nuances between different hispanic communities is necessary if we want to build reflective policy.

At the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation, we believe that real progress begins with learning. Follow for more insights.

is on the ballot this November, and the two nominees for governor are offering Texans different answers to the same question: how should we educate the next generation?

Gina , the Democratic nominee, argues that opportunity begins in a well-funded public school system.
Greg , the Republican nominee, believes that families should be able to spend state funds on private school tuition and other approved expenses.

For families across — who make up nearly half of the state’s public school students, this debate shapes classrooms, budgets, and futures in every community from El Paso to the Valley to Houston.

At TXHPF, we don’t tell you how to vote. We give you the full picture so you can decide for yourself. Follow for more insights.

New Pew Research Center data out this month shows that 40% of Hispanic Democrats say they’ve been discriminated against or treated unfairly because of their Hispanic background by someone who isn’t . Among Hispanic Republicans, that number is 29%.

That same pattern repeats across other experiences Pew Research Center asked about: being criticized for speaking Spanish in public (33% vs 25%), being told to go back to their home country (30% vs 22%), and being called an offensive name (29% vs 22%). Even after accounting for age, gender, income, and immigrant generation, Pew Research Center notes these differences still hold.

In this clip Chuck Rocha and Mike Madrid explain what that split means in the context of Latino identity in American politics.

TXHPF doesn’t endorse candidates or parties; our goal is to make new research and field insights accessible, so Texans can draw their own conclusions. Latino Vote Podcast

For years, it has been argued that Latinos do not vote monolithically by various analysts. On the Latino Vote Podcast podcast, strategist Mike Madrid makes the case that Latino voters are moving together this cycle in conversation with Chuck Rocha. That question matters enormously in the context of Hispanic Texans, as they are roughly 40% of the state’s population and a growing share of its electorate. TXHPF exists to ensure conversation about Hispanic Texans is all-rounded and not grounded in assumption. Follow for more insights.

voters are once again at the center of Texas politics.

Recent polling and election results suggest Hispanic voters are playing a pivotal role in the 2026 U.S. race with Democratic nominee James performing strongly among Latino voters compared to Ken after made significant gains with this electorate in recent election cycles. Political analysts increasingly describe Latino voters as one of the state’s key swing voting blocs, making their preferences especially influential in a competitive race.

At the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation, we share content like this to inform, not persuade. Our mission is to provide accessible, nonpartisan analysis of the issues, trends, and data shaping Texas so Hispanic Texans can stay informed and engaged in the political process.
