May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so let’s do a This or That: Mental Health Edition.

So many choices we come across every day and many times there isn’t a clear right answer. But what we want to prioritize that day is half the choice. To benefit your mental health we know from research that lowering caffeine intake, screen time, spiraling would help. In the same vein improving sleep, nutrition, social time, and genuinely reaching out for support is shown to help

Send this to a loved who needs a reminder to prioritize their mental health.

A newborn can look perfectly healthy… and still be at risk for catastrophic bleeding.

That’s why the vitamin K shot exists.

Over the last several years, more parents have started declining it, often because they genuinely believe they’re making the safer choice. But vitamin K deficiency bleeding has no warning signs, and by the time symptoms appear, it can already be devastating.

This reel isn’t about shaming parents. It’s about explaining the actual biology, where the fear comes from, and what’s at stake when misinformation spreads faster than medicine.

Watch the full video before forming an opinion.

I would genuinely like to hear your perspective in the comments, whether you are a parent, healthcare professional, or layperson.

So last week you may have seen the headlines that PCOS has had undergone a name change to PMOS. It may have seemed odd and you may not take another glance at its significance. But it’s definitely a much awaited and welcomed change.
For a long time this name stuck after physicians in the 1930s noticed ovaries with what seemed like cysts covering them, but further research over time did show that these were arrested follicles. The cysts were present in some cases but not all. Yet that name stuck.
The key endocrinal disruptions took the backstage in the illness, but for those who suffer daily it’s become their reality. So a name change was long overdue and the fact that genetically related men had hormonal disruptions and insulin sensitivity sealed the deal.
As in today’s Anti-DEI climate it makes it easier to study such an illness if tied to men as well.

There is a persistent myth surrounding snot color, that it is telling something. Let’s discuss whether snot color is an indication of the type of illness you have.

The reality is that snot color is not telling us type of illness at all. It’s merely a natural part of illness progression. As more immune cells combat illness, our snot thickens and gets discolored.

So let’s not succumb to age old myths and misinformation.

We keep hearing about detox cleanses, drinks, teas, and fasts? There’s so many products and social media trends asking us to detox?

But the reality is that our body is already doing a good enough job detoxing on its own. All we need to do is eat healthy, sleep well, and maintain our mental health. If your organs need help, you should be at a hospital.

As the 8 cups of water each day rule is proven false over and over again, we are scrambling to find a guideline for how much water to drink.

The easiest metric is the color of the urine. Drink enough water to reach a pale yellow but not so much that it is clear.

Remember that if you are thirsty for extended periods you are already severely dehydrated.

Now that the sun is out and temperatures are rising, melting ice can refreeze overnight, creating black ice.

Black ice is nearly invisible and very slippery, so take extra care when walking or driving.

Over 50 years of research was not able to prove the age old advice to not crack knuckles out of fear of causing arthritis.
The reality is we have pockets of air in our joints with air bubbles. A simple crack of the knuckles pops a bubble relieving some tension and altering the pressure. No harm done.
