Born out of the AFL-CIO young worker program, YALL was formed to unite our generations workers and activists to build a strong movement of motivated workers. Today’s young workers are part of the largest generation to enter the workforce since the baby boomers. People born between the late 1970s and 2000 also make up the most diverse and technologically savvy generation in America’s history. But they suffer the nation’s highest unemployment—about twice the national average—and the fewest job opportunities in today’s economy. Yet this generation of young workers is active, engaged and ready to reverse economic and social injustice. With students, civil and human rights advocates, LGBTQ activists and many others, young union members and nonunion workers are coming together in a powerful force.

On Saturday morning, KNON 89.3 FM Workers Beat had two very special guest hosts! Union baristas from Starbucks Workers United joined the show, to tell listeners across North Texas about their organizing efforts.

Workers are now calling for a consumer boycott of Starbucks until management offers them a fair contract.

Many listeners called in to tell the workers they have their full support, and will not be buying Starbucks until a deal is signed. That's what solidarity means! ✊️

Texas YALL statement for custodians

The Dallas City government including City Councilmembers, Chad West, Cara Mendelsohn, and Paul Ridley are looking to reduce the wage of city custodians from $23.06 an hour to $16.76 an hour on Wednesday this coming week.

Reducing workers wages especially in a time of rising costs for housing, rent, energy, food, gasoline is unacceptable.

The Texas Young Active Labor Leaders (YALL) stand against this as in this economy, $16.76 an hour is not close to a living wage. The wage of city custodians must be at least $23.06 an hour.

Texas YALL stands on the side of custodians and workers everywhere. West, Mendelsohn, and Ridley cite keeping wages at the “market rate” for drastically cutting custodians wages. Texas YALL believes we should put the needs of working families before corporate profits.

The power went out yesterday at the North Texas Area Labor Federation. It was dark, hot and sweaty, but labor marches on! North Texas Area Labor Federation heard from baristas at Starbucks Workers United and passed a historic consumer boycott of Starbucks, until the management agrees to a fair contract.

Game developers from UVW-CWA were also also there to speak on their stand against XBOX 's corporate greed, after the bosses laid off thousands of workers who created many games we know and love.

Texas labor is here to take a stand right beside them. Because the workers united will never defeated!
