Warrior Dog Foundation Warrior Dog Foundation is dedicated to serving the special operations community, families, and Special Operation Forces (SOF) working K-9 military dogs.

The Warrior Dog Foundation helps retired Military, Contract, and Law Enforcement K9s by providing mental and physical rehabilitation, as well as rehoming options for dogs that might otherwise be euthanized. The Warrior Dog Foundation was established by Mike Ritland who fought as a Navy SEAL in Operation Iraqi Freedom and other deployments He created Warrior Dog Foundation with the sole purpose of

giving back to the Navy SEAL and special operations community. The K-9s employed with these forces are of the top tier in the working-dog world. They are expected to work in the most austere of environments and face conditions that most human beings cannot survive. These are the environments in which these elite warriors operate. The K-9 units are vital in ensuring the success of every mission and operate in all conditions. Warrior Dog Foundation helps to transition dogs from an operational environment into our state-of-the-art kennel facility. We strive to educate the public on the importance of K-9s in the combat environment, and showcase the level of sacrifice these dogs give in support of our troops. We care for each individual SOF K-9 with dignity and grace, including both mental and physical rehabilitation for the rest of their lives.

This Memorial Day, we remember the heroes who never made it home. 🇺🇸🐾

The brave men, women, and working dogs who stood beside our warriors in the darkest moments… who ran toward danger without hesitation… who gave everything in service to this country and the people they loved.

Some carried rifles.
Some carried leashes.
All carried courage.

At Warrior Dog Foundation, we honor the legacy of our nation’s retired working dogs by giving them the dignity, care, and peace they earned through a lifetime of service.

Today is more than a holiday.
It is a promise:
That sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Standing with Chris Cappa today reminds you very quickly that military working dogs are not “just dogs.” These animals deploy into the same combat zones as our operators and are trained to do things most people can’t even imagine.

Navy SEAL and Special Operations K9s are trained for explosive detection, tracking, apprehension, building clears, helicopter fast-roping, parachuting, rough surf water insertions, and locating enemy combatants in complete darkness. They save lives before a shot is ever fired.

Many of these dogs spent years in combat environments protecting American troops, detecting explosives, and preventing catastrophic injuries and loss of life. Some come home with physical injuries. Others suffer from canine PTSD and struggle to transition out of operational life.

That’s why the Warrior Dog Foundation matters so much.

Founded by former Navy SEAL Mike Ritland, the foundation rehabilitates retired military and law enforcement working dogs and gives them the dignity, medical care, rehabilitation, and peace they earned through service.
