Every new experience teaches something.

A kayak can teach courage.
An archery target can teach focus.
A hiking trail can teach perseverance.
A craft project can teach creativity.
A team activity can teach trust.

Camp wasn't just fun—it was filled with opportunities for growth that these girls will carry long after summer ends.

Children deserve opportunities to laugh, explore, create, and simply enjoy being kids.

Camp creates space for exactly that.

Watching these girls paddle a canoe, create artwork, hike a trail, or celebrate each other’s successes reminds us why experiences matter just as much as programs.

Joy is part of healing.

One of the greatest gifts camp offers isn’t found on the lake or the hiking trail.

It’s found in friendship.

For many of our campers, this is one of the few places where they don’t have to explain their family situation. They’re surrounded by girls who simply understand.

Sometimes healing begins when a child realizes…

More Than Horseback Riding

To some, it’s horseback riding.

To one of our campers, it may have been the first time she realized she was brave enough to try something that felt a little scary.

Camp isn’t about checking activities off a list. It’s about helping girls discover confidence they can carry home with them.

One small victory can become the beginning of believing in yourself.

Camp may be over, but its impact is just beginning.

Over several incredible days, the girls in the Janie’s Angels program laughed, learned, explored, created, and encouraged one another. They rode horses, paddled across the water, hiked trails, made crafts, practiced yoga, and discovered strengths they may not have realized they had.

Most importantly, they spent time with other girls who understand what it’s like to grow up with an incarcerated mother.

No child should feel like they’re walking that journey alone.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing some of our favorite camp moments and why experiences like these matter so much.

The countdown is on! ☀️

Soon, children in the Janie's Angels program will head to camp for a fun filled adventure, friendship, creativity, and fun.

They'll ride horses, explore the outdoors, create crafts, build confidence, develop new skills, and make memories that will last long after camp ends.

For many of these children, camp is more than a getaway. It's a chance to simply be a kid, surrounded by encouragement, support, and people who believe in them.

We can't wait to see what this year's camp experience brings.
