APRIL 2026 YARD OF THE MONTH
CONGRATULATIONS TO SALLY & MATTHEW MITZNER AT 4422 SANTA BARBARA
PLUS: LT GARDEN SOCIAL & SOPAC TRAIL CLEANUP
🌷Now that spring has sprung up all around the neighborhood, Lakewood Trails has started up our Yard of the Month awards again for current LTNA members. Winners receive a $50 gift certificate and sign to display in their yard for that month, thanks to North Haven Gardens, the Lakewood Trails Yard of the Month sponsor. For upcoming classes, events, new plant arrivals and plant lists from North Haven Gardens, check out their home page at nhg.com.
🌺We proudly award our April 2026 Yard of the Month to 4422 Santa Barbara, the beautiful home of Sally and Matthew Mitzner. The Mitzners, who joined our LTNA neighborhood in 2023, maintain a yard featuring a gorgeous red rose bush in full bloom, alongside a Japanese maple, planters of yellow and purple pansies, Swiss chard, winter cress, and other ornamental foliage. They also have a dry creek bed on the side of their house. This is a functional and aesthetic landscaping feature designed to mimic a natural stream, utilizing rocks, boulders, and gravel to manage stormwater runoff and prevent erosion.
🔺DON'T MISS OUT!🔺
There are several beautiful yards in Lakewood Trails that have been nominated for Yard of the Month but, unfortunately, if you are not a 2026 LTNA member, you are not eligible for Yard of the Month. If you are not a member, please join us. It's easy to join and dues are only $30 a year. You can pay online using Venmo , or at LakewoodTrails.net (“Contact Us/Online Payments”), or use the QR Code in the Comments.

🌻LTNA SPRING GARDEN SOCIAL AND PLANT SWAP🌻
🪻Sunday, April 26, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Kay Nettle's house, 6935 Sperry.
Let’s welcome the growing season together at our Springtime Garden Social! Whether you’re looking for new plants to brighten your garden or just want to chat with fellow gardeners, this is the perfect chance to share ideas and inspiration.
🪻Our neighborhood gardeners will have plants, seeds, and other garden goodies to share. If you have plants or seeds you'd like to bring, feel free to do so—but it’s totally optional! We’ll also have snacks and fun door prizes to enjoy. We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate all things green!
🌳SOPAC TRAIL CLEAN UP🌳
🌿Saturday, April 11, 8:30am at SoPac Trail
🌿Our cleanup teams gather on the second Saturday of each month to help keep the SoPac Trail looking beautiful! We start at 8:30 a.m.and meet under the Mockingbird Bridge, working our way to the Trestle Bridge near White Rock Park. The cleanup usually takes about an hour, and we welcome everyone—singles, couples, and families!
🌿Kids love using the grabbers and feel proud to help out, and teens can earn community service hours (plus, they can flex their hours if needed). It's a great way to give back to the community while enjoying some fresh air! If you're interested in joining or need more details, reach out to Chairperson Pat Watson at [email protected]. We’d love to have you with us!
