🌳REMINDER: SOPAC TRAIL CLEAN UP🌳
🌿Saturday, April 11, 8:30am at SoPac Trail
🌿Our cleanup teams gather on the second Saturday of each month to help keep the SoPac Trail looking beautiful! We start at 8:30 a.m.and meet under the Mockingbird Bridge, working our way to the Trestle Bridge near White Rock Park. The cleanup usually takes about an hour, and we welcome everyone—singles, couples, and families!
🌿Kids love using the grabbers and feel proud to help out, and teens can earn community service hours (plus, they can flex their hours if needed). It's a great way to give back to the community while enjoying some fresh air! If you're interested in joining or need more details, reach out to Chairperson Pat Watson at [email protected]. We’d love to have you with us!

APRIL 2026 YARD OF THE MONTH
CONGRATULATIONS TO SALLY & MATTHEW MITZNER AT 4422 SANTA BARBARA
PLUS: LT GARDEN SOCIAL & SOPAC TRAIL CLEANUP
🌷Now that spring has sprung up all around the neighborhood, Lakewood Trails has started up our Yard of the Month awards again for current LTNA members. Winners receive a $50 gift certificate and sign to display in their yard for that month, thanks to North Haven Gardens, the Lakewood Trails Yard of the Month sponsor. For upcoming classes, events, new plant arrivals and plant lists from North Haven Gardens, check out their home page at nhg.com.
🌺We proudly award our April 2026 Yard of the Month to 4422 Santa Barbara, the beautiful home of Sally and Matthew Mitzner. The Mitzners, who joined our LTNA neighborhood in 2023, maintain a yard featuring a gorgeous red rose bush in full bloom, alongside a Japanese maple, planters of yellow and purple pansies, Swiss chard, winter cress, and other ornamental foliage. They also have a dry creek bed on the side of their house. This is a functional and aesthetic landscaping feature designed to mimic a natural stream, utilizing rocks, boulders, and gravel to manage stormwater runoff and prevent erosion.
🔺DON'T MISS OUT!🔺
There are several beautiful yards in Lakewood Trails that have been nominated for Yard of the Month but, unfortunately, if you are not a 2026 LTNA member, you are not eligible for Yard of the Month. If you are not a member, please join us. It's easy to join and dues are only $30 a year. You can pay online using Venmo , or at LakewoodTrails.net (“Contact Us/Online Payments”), or use the QR Code in the Comments.

🪻Our neighborhood gardeners will have plants, seeds, and other garden goodies to share. If you have plants or seeds you'd like to bring, feel free to do so—but it’s totally optional! We’ll also have snacks and fun door prizes to enjoy. We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate all things green!

SPCA DONATION DRIVE
MARCH 18-31, 2026
🐈 Spring cleaning time = perfect time to help some furry friends
🐶 The SPCA Shelter is really in need of some extra items right now, and they’d be so grateful for your help.
🐈 Top things on their list: Large towels (their #1 wish!), blankets & comforters, flat sheets and newspapers
🐶 They’d also happily take new or gently used: Pet beds, leashes & collars and toys
🐈 Quick Note: Small hand towels and washcloths unfortunately can’t be used, so please do not send.
🐶 If you have any of these items to share, here are two easy ways to donate:
1-Text Amy Malooley at 214-773-5570 with your address — she’ll happily come pick them up!
2-Drop them off anytime on Amy’s porch at 6717 Sperry Street.
🐈 Every towel, blanket, and toy makes a huge difference for the animals waiting for their furever homes.
🐶 Thank you so much for being so kind and generous! Our Lakewood Trails neighbors are the best!
