WRT alum Merlin wants to remind everyone to give monthly heartworm prevention. He was one of the many dogs who came into WRT with heartworms. He had great fosters who took him through the treatment and got him all ready for his forever family. He’s now living his best life heartworm free ❤️😊

September is our North Texas Giving Day campaign. It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year. We have generous matching donations so for every dollar donated, we get $2! Please consider supporting WRT with a donation during this time. One of our biggest medical expenses is heartworm treatment for dozens of dogs like Merlin each year

1 year old recently neutered Mith (was Schroeder) needs a foster to come back to rescue. He was adopted as a puppy after being a stray in the RGV. He has struggled with resource guarding, which he did go to training for. He struggles with a sleep startle reflex. If startled awake he can snap and growl so he needs to be in a calm home with no kids. He is friendly with some dogs and when fully awake he is friendly with kids and people. He’s just startled very easily. He is crate and potty trained. He sees his crate as a safe space. He’s currently in the San Antonio area. If he is fostered or adopted locally, the trainer is willing to continue working with him. Can anyone help him out?

Sweet Leia got to go home with her new family this weekend. She ended up at a Houston shelter after her “owner” was done overbreeding her 😢 She had a wonderful foster and now a wonderful family. She will only know love going forward. ❤️

Bentley and Birdie’s foster took them to the neighborhood coffee shop this morning. Overall they did well. Bentley did bark some when he saw another dog or wanted a treat but he was able to be settled. Both of them were unphased by people walking by. They were very excited to be there.
