One Earth One Chance

One Earth One Chance One Earth One Chance is an environmental nonprofit (501c3 tax exempt, EIN 83-4369288) Here's what you can do to make a difference:
1. Three takeaways -
1.

Our mission is to think globally and act locally by:
*Growing and maintaining trees and shrubs to reforest urban spaces,
*Removing waste through litter pickup or “plalking” in parks,
*Spreading awareness about sustainable living. Replace single-use items - bottles, paper, shopping bags - with reusable options. Throw litter in trash cans and recycle metal, paper, and plastic per city guidelines.
2.

Shop products that are locally sourced and with minimal packaging is.
3. Turn off air conditioning at home, if possible, and harvest rainwater for irrigation.
5. Opt for Meatless days to reduce your carbon footprint and compost food waste.
6. Walk or bike for transportation, if possible and unsubscribe from mailing lists. Climate change is the biggest threat of this century (per Lancet Commission). Every 2 seconds, a forest the size of a football field is destroyed. Trees can reverse environment damage
Climate - Trees stabilize air temperatures, prevent extreme weather
Air - Trees produce O2 and absorb harmful emissions and CO2
Water - Trees reduce runoff and retains table, water scarcity is looming
Soil - Trees improve soil conditions, prevent erosion and depletion
Species - Endangered animals, birds and bees can cohabit with humans, less disease, physical/mental health
Good and bad - Amazon is not a carbon sink/ emitter, Costa Rica, Chernobyl
Reforestation is cheap, available and something we can get involved with. Our primary focus is to reforest our community spaces and protect the health of people, nature, and our Earth. It takes $250 to plant a tree with irrigation laid in to ensure they have suitable care after planting. We raise funds for tree planting through community “art”reach events, individual donors and match donations. Your tax-deductible donation will directly support our tree planting projects. Environmental health and human health are interconnected
2. Ecosystem alterations affect inhabitants and their air, water, food, and shelter
3. Reverse this by growing the green, saying no to plastic and conserving resources

Volunteers (including youth) can get involved in the following projects
Tree Planting - We have completed 2 plantings in Spring 2023 and plan 2 more in April, followed by 4 plantings in Fall 2023
Awareness - Write vlogs and blogs to raise awareness about sustainable living
Fundraising events - We hold Yoga, Dance, Art, Cooking, and other "Art" reach events, for which we need volunteers, to raise funds for our tree planting efforts. On Apr 1, 2023, we are hosting a dance competition (Natyakalar)
Plalking - We organize litter cleanups in Spring and Fall every year to beautify our community in partnership with local Parks & Recreation departments. Green Merchandise - We set up tables with green merchandise, such as water bottles, bento boxes, grocery and produce bags, and t-shirts for sale, at public events, to raise funds for tree planting. Corporate Fundraising - Individual donors also request Corporate Match and Grants to scale our fundraising efforts. For more details contact us at

🌿 Our inaugural Earth Bazaar, hosted by One Earth One Chance, was a resounding success with an incredible turnout and vibrant community participation. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Nivas for the venue and to Foundation for the meaningful tree planting that beautifully set the tone for the day. From a rejuvenating yoga session by Shah, an engaging panel discussion moderated by Parbhoo, a street play by Bhattacharya and troupe, an energetic dance session by Nair, sustainable shopping opportunities, and a sustainable fashion show that recognized outstanding contributors from the past year—every moment drew attention to Climate Change and its impact, and reflected our shared commitment to zero waste and sustainable living.

Thank you to our vendors, volunteers, and attendees for making this event truly memorable.🌿

Ajay Vonkarey of One Earth One Chance recently had the opportunity to speak at a Lions Club event in Dallas (https://lionsdistrict2x1.org/) on the urgent themes of climate change, sustainability, and the power of volunteerism.
The presentation focused on how individual and community actions can collectively drive meaningful environmental impact, and how local initiatives can connect to global change. It was encouraging to see such an engaged audience, with members showing genuine curiosity about practical ways to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and within their communities. What stood out most was the enthusiasm from both the Lions and the Leos, whose energy brought an inspiring dimension to the event.

The younger Leos, in particular, asked thoughtful questions and expressed strong interest in taking action. Many attendees were excited to learn about opportunities to get involved with One Earth One Chance(www.https://www.oneearthonechance.org/) , and several showed a clear willingness to volunteer and contribute to ongoing sustainability efforts.
The event not only sparked important conversations but also laid the groundwork for future collaboration and community-driven impact.

Thank you to Surya Bhandari and Christy Householter for the partnership and opportunity to be a part of this community event.
