A typical contract with me would look like this. I will be at your company/business one day a week for up to four hours. Those hours can be split up if needed to cover different shifts. I make rounds just to say hi and chat briefly. That simply builds familiarity and lets them know I’m there. Then, if anyone desires to have some conversation, they approach me. The trust an employee can place in a conversation with the chaplain is built on the cornerstone of confidentiality. What you share with the chaplain about personal matters is not discussed with anyone else.

VISIBILITY: Being present and being seen is important. You will see me in the office, in the break room, and on the floor. You will be able to say, “Hey, there’s that guy I can talk with. Maybe I need to check in with him about what’s been on my mind.” Sometimes just seeing me starts the conversation that helps you.

Separating personal life from work life can be very difficult: this is why many employees bring their personal problems to work, which in turn has an impact on the workplace environment as a whole.

There are a variety of personal issues that can affect the workplace and also various methods that employers can implement to limit their consequences, among them, having a chaplain available onsite.
