Are you 17 or older and looking to jumpstart a career in a skilled trade? Whether you’re a recent grad or looking to pivot your career, the Denise Valentine Foundation MTT Scholarship is here to support your journey!

We are specifically looking to help residents of DeSoto and Glenn Heights gain the certifications and training they need through the MT Training Center.

Scholarship Highlights:
Who can apply? :
All learners ages 17 and older.

What does it cover? :
Supports certification and skilled-trade training.

Requirements: Community service hours and residency in DeSoto or Glenn Heights.

It’s officially Scholarship Season! 🎓✨

The Denise Valentine Foundation is proud to announce that applications are NOW OPEN for our 2026 Scholarship Pathways. We are dedicated to honoring those who make a meaningful impact through community service, and we want to help fund your next chapter.

Check out this message (next slide) from one of our 2025 recipients, Emerson Morris, currently thriving as a student at the University of Houston! 🐾❤️ Emerson is a prime example of how leadership and service can pave the way to a bright future.

We have two distinct pathways available for residents of DeSoto and Glenn Heights:

• For graduating high school seniors.
• Requires 40+ community service hours.
• For those headed to a college, university, or skilled trade program.

Today we proudly recognize the outstanding DeSoto ISD JROTC Cadets for their dedication to serving our community through volunteer efforts coordinated by the Denise Valentine Foundation.

These cadets have demonstrated the true spirit of leadership, citizenship, and service by actively participating in community service projects that support and uplift residents across our city. Their willingness to step forward and give their time reflects the core values of the JROTC program—developing responsible leaders who are committed to making a positive difference.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the cadets, their instructors, and the Denise Valentine Foundation for building strong partnerships that encourage service, compassion, and civic responsibility among our youth.

Community is at its best when we work together for a common goal. ❤️

The Denise Valentine Foundation was honored to participate in a massive community service project this past weekend! We joined forces with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, JROTC, Lions Club, and DeSoto ISD to address a critical need: children without beds.

Our volunteers spent the day prepping wood to create sturdy, comfortable beds for children in our community who currently don't have one of their own. Seeing the dedication from the students in JROTC and the seasoned service of the Lions Club members was truly inspiring.

When we say "it takes a village," this is exactly what we mean. While the manual labor is done for the weekend, our mission to support the community never stops!

Seeing the vision for DeSoto Vantage Day come to life was everything! ✨

Watching this recap, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who showed up and poured into our community. We saw participants walk away with new knowledge, more connections, great gifts from our vendors, and the tools to own their future. That is exactly why I started the Denise Valentine Foundation.

We’re already hard at work reviewing the feedback you shared about DeSoto Vantage Day. Your perspective is invaluable, and we are using every piece of feedback to fuel our growth for this year!

Looking Ahead: 🎓 Scholarship applications open late March! This year, we’re proud to provide scholarships for community-service-oriented students AND adults (NEW!), all thanks to our partnership with MT Training Center!

We are proud to share that the Denise Valentine Foundation has been awarded a Mayoral Commendation by the City of DeSoto in recognition of our community program that provided AI education, financial literacy resources, skilled trades and career exploration, as well as a vendor marketplace and family-friendly activities.

This honor underscores the value of accessible education, workforce development, and economic opportunity for residents of all ages.

As we look ahead, we invite our community to help us continue and expand this important work. Donations directly support our scholarship opportunities and community service events.

The Denise Valentine Foundation was proud to partner with the American Legion for a meaningful community service activity—collecting Christmas wreaths from the graves of our veterans.

We are especially proud of the young people who stepped forward to serve. Their participation reflects a strong commitment to honoring those who sacrificed for our freedom and to preserving respect for our veterans year-round.

The Denise Valentine Foundation encourages youth to be actively engaged in community service. In June, we will award scholarships to students based on documented community service hours, recognizing their leadership, compassion, and dedication to giving back.
