This legal panel is geared for film professionals who are Screenwriters and/or Producers. The lawyers will be speaking about registering and protecting your script, securing story rights, and the ins and outs of writer’s options.

Panelist Bios:

EMILY HORTON, an attorney with her own entertainment law firm in Dallas that focuses its practice on serving the particular and unique legal needs of the arts and entertainment communities. Her firm handles legal matters in Contracts, Music Law, Film and Motion Pictures, Television, Publishing, Intellectual Property, and more.

BRENT TURMAN is a Texas-based attorney focused on high-stakes disputes in the sports and entertainment industries. Before practicing law, he built his career in film and television as an associate operations producer for ESPN and ABC College Football, where he helped craft stories seen by audiences nationwide. That foundation continues to shape how he advocates today, translating complex disputes into clear, compelling narratives for judges, juries, and arbitrators.

Women in Film Dallas received a spectacular show in an intimate setting from featuring who flew in from New York to grace us with his vocals and flamenco guitar, Julia gave us a splendid mini performance of the flamenco dance, she is proud owner of La Cantera Arts Conservatory, and Charlie keeping on top of the complexities of the beat on the box.

Julia gave us a briefing about the history of flamenco, and pointed out that flamenco is like its own language, and the beat is much more complex than what most people are used to.

All in all, it was a fabulous and culturally rich evening!!!

A young woman in rural Kentucky works as a coal miner to provide for er two younger sisters after losing her parents to the opioid epidemic.
