Who owns the Nile rivers ? I think countries that are situated alongside the Nile rivers believe they have their natural right and ownership of the Nile but it is a defensive right. For instance, the superpowers (Egypt and Ethiopia) of the Nile rivers are on the verge of defending their natural ownership militarily. What about if the newly born-state of South Sudan would construct Ajah Ageer Valley Dam and want to fill it with Nile water, does South Sudan have armed forces to defend its natural right of the Nile rivers? I believe dependency on natural right of the Nile rivers is impractical without carrying a big stick like Egypt and Ethiopia. I learned from history that one former colonist over Africa noted Egypt was given ownership of the Nile in 1929 by Great Britain. At that time, Britain's powerful military controlled Egypt, and wanted to make sure they also had control of the Nile. Britain no longer rules Egypt, but this treaty (official agreement) still gives Egypt final say over how the river is used today. I thought it would be a right thing to share this piece of history with you. Thank you!
