YAOW went to the Dominican Republic on a work mission trip from July 18-21. I know… I know… Sorry it has taken us so long to give you a recap on what happened. The reason for the delay is that shortly after we returned, I got sick with a cold. Then after 2 weeks when I was recovered, my wife also became sick. We just couldn’t stay away from each other… lol… so I gave it to her…
The team members consisted of people from Dallas and different parts of Pennsylvania.
While in the D.R. we helped them build a Cistern for the Evangelical School of Jacagua. In case you don’t know, a Cistern is a waterproof tank or reservoir used for collecting and storing rain water. That water can then be used for non-drinking purposes; think toilets. Luckily by the time we got there, the hole was already dug. We just needed to cement the floor and build the cement block walls. Sounds easy, but it was very hard work.
We also did some painting around the school yard and the playground area. We touched up existing painting, and some of our more talented team members painted beautiful artistry.
And we did a Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the local kids. We did craft activities, puppets, sang songs, and played games. There were nearly 100 kids who showed up and heard the Gospel.
See this video showing what we did, which one of our talented team members produced. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WwA1Y1VyVY
Daniel Woodring is our D.R. missionary, and he grew up there when his parents were missionaries. Daniel is associated with Way of Truth Ministries, and he is my cousin. If you want to follow and/or support him click here https://www.dbwoodring.com/
