🐾 National Take Your Pet to Work Week Starts Tomorrow! 🐾

Your pets have reviewed your job performance and have decided it's time for closer supervision.

Starting tomorrow, it's National Take Your Pet to Work Week, and your furry managers are ready to clock in!

🐶 Dogs are prepared to:
• Follow you to every meeting
• Remind you when it's snack time
• Greet every visitor with slobbery kisses

🐱 Cats are prepared to:
• Sit on your keyboard during important emails
• Join Zoom calls uninvited
• Push every pen and piece of paper off of your desk

Let's be honest—most pets already think they run the office. This week, they get the official title.

📸 Share a photo of your pet "working" and tell us their job title:

🐾🚐 Hey Humans, We Have Big News! 🚐🐾

Guess what? We are16 lucky dogs who packed our bags (okay, mostly our favorite toys and lots of slobbery kisses) and hit the road to Maine to find our fur-ever families! ❤️

Some of us have been waiting a long time for this moment. We've perfected our puppy-dog eyes, practiced our couch-cuddling skills, and are fully prepared to become professional treat inspectors.

But we're not the only ones with travel plans...

Yesterday, 16 of our friends back at the shelter caught their own ride to Wisconsin!! 🧀🐶

Next week more of our friends are headed to Maine!!

We have been in contact with our friends back in Texas and have sent a video with us enjoying our new families!! They are so excited to come!!

They keep asking us:
🐾 "What's a forever home like?"
🐾 "Do they really let you sleep on the couch?"
🐾 "What's a Wisconsin cheese curd, and can I have one?"

Why transport us up north? Here's the scoop: Many northern states have a shortage of adoptable dogs due to successful spay/neuter programs and lower stray populations, while Texas shelters continue to care for more animals than there are available homes. Transport programs help bridge that gap, giving shelter pets a second chance at the life they deserve.

The only problem? Gas stations don't accept tail wags or slobbery kisses as payment...We've tried.

🚐 Fuel, health certificates, veterinary requirements, and transportation costs add up quickly! That's where YOU come in. I heard one of the humans say we are all worth the $20,000 to become Cheese Heads and Lobster Lovers…whatever that means!!

💙 Every donation helps another dog trade a kennel for a couch, a shelter bowl for a family dinner, and lonely nights for belly rubs and bedtime snuggles.

So, now that we are settled in Maine and living our best lives, we're asking you to help our friends be next.

Because every dog deserves:
🐶 A family to love!!
🐶 A bed to claim as our own!!
🐶 Treats just because we are cute!!

❤️ Please donate if you can, and share our story. Together, we can help more of our shelter friends pack their bags and find their fur-ever homes.

With wagging tails, happy hearts, and absolutely no intention of paying the gas bill,

🐾 🇺🇸A 4th of July Message From Your Dog 🇺🇸🐾

Hey humans,

I know the 4th of July is one of your favorite holidays. There are burgers, hot dogs, friends, family, and lots of fun. But can we talk about those fireworks for a minute?

To you, they're beautiful lights and loud booms.

To me? It sounds like the sky is falling.

When the fireworks start, I don't understand what's happening. My heart races, I shake, I hide under beds, in closets, or anywhere I think I might be safe. Some of my furry friends get so scared they jump fences, break through screens, or run away trying to escape the noise.

So this holiday, can you help me out?

🐾 Make sure my collar and ID tags are on and up to date.
🐾 Double-check that my microchip information is current.
🐾 Keep me safely indoors before the fireworks begin.
🐾 Close windows, curtains, and doors.
🐾 Turn on the TV, radio, or a fan to help drown out the scary sounds.
🐾 Give me a safe place where I can hide and feel secure.
🐾 And most importantly, stay calm and remind me that everything is okay.

While you're enjoying the fireworks, I'll be counting on you to keep me safe.

Love,

🐶 Your Dog (who would much rather celebrate with treats than fireworks)

❤️ Please remember: The days following the 4th of July are some of the busiest days of the year for animal shelters due to lost pets. A little preparation can help keep your furry family members safe at home where they belong. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Check out the latest Tri-City Tales...

Two for One

John Coward of Cedar Hill has always had an affection for wolves, and for older dogs. So when he spotted 8-year-old Lobo at Tri-City Animal Shelter in March of 2024, he knew he had found the dog he was looking for. Lobo was a husky, but his coloring and features were most definitely lupine.

Lobo had arrived at the shelter as a stray months earlier, passed up again and again for adoption. He was friendly and animated, even while battling a case of heartworms. But when John came back to the shelter a couple of days later so his wife could meet Lobo, “He was an entirely different dog,” John recalled. “He was listless. He was shy. And I said, ‘Is something wrong?’ ”

The shelter staff said Lobo was probably missing his friend. “His friend?” John asked.

He was told that another husky had come in at the same time as Lobo, and that the two had bonded. So John asked to see Lobo’s friend. As soon as she came out, Lobo lit up. John watched them play for a few minutes. “Okay she comes, too,” he told the staff. “I could not imagine breaking up that kind of love.”

Because he was taking home two dogs, both of whom were being treated for heartworms, the shelter waived the adoption fees. But in truth, he said, “I would have paid whatever they wanted.” John and his wife named Lobo’s friend Tala, in the Lakota Sioux language, to also honor her wolflike features.

Since they became part of the Coward family, Tala and Lobo have rarely been apart. When one goes to the vet without the other, the one at home will whine until they are reunited. They take walks together, and sleep side by side. They are rarely more than a few feet away from one another.

Although John went to the shelter with the intention of only adopting one dog, he is happy he came home with two. He could not imagine Lobo living without Tala, Tala living without Lobo, or him living without them both.

☀️🐾TEXAS HEAT IS NO JOKE - PROTECT YOUR PETS🐾☀️
As temps rise across Texas, remember that if it's hot for you, it's even hotter for your pets.

Here are a few simple ways to keep your furry family members safe:
💧Provide plenty of fresh cool water at all times.
🌳Make sure outdoor pets have access to plenty of shade.
🏠It is best to keep pets indoors whenever possible.
🦮Walk dogs early in the morning or late in the evening when temps are cooler.
🐾Check the pavement before walks - if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.
🚗Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside can become deadly very quickly.

Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or difficulty walking. If you notice these symptoms, move your pet to a cool area and contact your veterinarian immediately.

Let's work together to keep our pets safe, healthy and comfortable this summer. Share this post to help spread the word!🐶🐱❤️

PAWS UP!!!
Please help!!!!

We are calling on our community to help our four-legged friends out in a HUGE way!!

We have an amazing partner in Maine who has secured placement for several of our PAWSOME friends but...they need somewhere to rest their heads until May 20th!

This is where you come in! We are looking for several short-term fosters to open their homes for just 10 days until these sweet babies can catch their transport and ride off into the sunset toward their furever homes!

If you can foster one (or two since Isabella and Cooper are siblings) of these babies please reach out to us at [email protected] or [email protected]!

We promise it would mean the world to them...and us!!
