This morning, the Sacred Hands of Hope ministry was blessed to reach the streets of Dallas with hot coffee, breakfast, water, and snacks for our brothers and sisters in need. The weather was not favorable. Around 3:15 a.m., heavy rain began to pour, and honestly, I wondered within myself, “What will I do? How will I serve?” I also thought many volunteers may not be able to come because of the storm.
In that quiet moment of uncertainty, I prayed and asked God, “Please stop this rain for a few hours until I can serve these people.” I truly did not know what the outcome would be. There were many obstacles and many odds against us — but God remained faithful and in control.
As I reached downtown Dallas, people were already waiting. I was humbled by the love and gratitude I received while serving them. I met friendly elderly people, young adults, and many individuals carrying different burdens — homelessness, addiction, mental illness, physical sickness, loneliness, and brokenness. Some were in wheelchairs, yet still carried smiles and words of kindness.
This morning, Isaiah 42:16 came alive in my heart:“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.”
God continues to walk among those whom society often overlooks. He has not forgotten them.
Dear friends, please take a few moments each day to pray for these fellow citizens. Do not ignore those who are suffering or trapped in difficult circumstances. Many are longing not only for food and water, but also for dignity, compassion, hope, and human connection.
God has placed each one of us in positions where we can help lift others out of the pit. Sometimes a simple act of kindness, a prayer, a warm meal, or a listening heart can become the very evidence of God’s presence in someone’s darkest hour.
May we never grow tired of serving humanity with compassion, humility, and love.
