Inside the Liebeslieder ❤️

Our artists rehearse movements from Liebeslieder Waltzes by Johannes Brahms—a set of short, intimate pieces inspired by German folk poetry and written for voices and piano four-hands.

Playful, tender, wistful, and bittersweet, the Liebeslieder capture love in all its contradictions: joy and longing, flirtation and regret. It’s music that feels spontaneous and conversational, yet deeply crafted.

These waltzes are just one facet of what you’ll hear on our upcoming concert For Better or For Worse, a program exploring the many emotions of love—from lighthearted to complicated, romantic to reflective.
