We've been working hard at the Charles F. Ladd nature preserve in Duncanville! Our friends at Duncanville Nature Conservancy came out, with tractor in tow, to help us lay down the new trail! We had a local homeschooling group show up, and everyone was getting their hands dirty. This is the first official trail at the preserve, but it won't be the last! A big thank you to our friends at the Duncanville Parks and Recreation for the extra supplies and mulch!
We still have some tidying to do on this trail, which we will finish on our regular workday.

Weโ€™ll be manning a kids booth at this event in Waxahachie, so be sure to stop by and say hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ ๐Ÿ˜„

This is now an official chapter project, which means if youโ€™re interested in being involved in the long term maintenance of the garden, itโ€™s a great way to earn approved volunteer hours while supporting pollinator habitat right here in Waxahachie ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿงโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒป

Did you catch our monthly chapter meeting?

If not, we would love to see you next month on March 23.

A big thank you to Nancy Angell for her presentation, Fairs, Festivals, and Farmers Markets: Sharing Nature Appreciation with the General Public.

Nancy shared insights from the Sabine-Neches Chapterโ€™s 2022 TMN Project Fair winning presentation, โ€œBeyond the Choir,โ€ and walked us through how to take conservation messaging beyond ecocentric audiences and into mainstream community spaces.

She covered:
โ€ข What makes an attractive and engaging booth display
โ€ข Creative, hands on activities that draw people in
โ€ข Realistic costs and planning considerations
โ€ข How to recruit chapter members and build relationships with event organizers

It was practical, inspiring, and a great reminder that conservation education does not have to stay inside nature circles. We can meet people where they already are.

Nancy did a wonderful job. Thank you for sharing your experience and encouraging us to think bigger about outreach.

And congratulations to Vicki Park on receiving your Master Naturalist certification. We are always grateful to welcome another nature nerd into the ranks.

See you all on March 23.
