Retail As Art, a Photography Scholarship Contest

Retail As Art is an annual invitational designed to showcase the best photographic interpretations of The first "Retail as Art" invitational was held in 2008.

Participants included students from the Booker T. Washington School for the Visual and Performing Arts. The results were outstanding, both in terms of the photographs produced and the benefits received by all involved. In 2009, UCR expanded the program to include two DISD schools. In 2011, the contest grew to include students from six DISD high schools. Twenty-three high school students sent in ph

oto submissions of signage, store design, merchandise, shoppers, retail employees and more. This year the contest has expanded to include high school students from DISD andlocal area private schools. The top three winning entrants receive scholarship money, and each participating school receives a gift appropriate to its arts/photography department. After the judging process concludes, the winners will be announced during an event on April 25, 2015 at Goss-Michael Gallery where the winning photos and other notable submissions will be displayed.
