Everybody knows moku (long coat) Akitainu are special. And everybody knows senior Akitainu are special. Here is all that specialness bundled into one package. Please contact Akita Angels for details.

Oh my Goodness!!!

Attn: Southern California!!

This morning, one of our shelter partners contacted to assist with taking this gorgeous lady, "Yuki", into rescue. This purebred, long-coated Japanese Akita is estimated to be about 12 years old and weighs about 56 lbs. She was found as a "stray" - no microchip, no collar or tags - and so far, no one has attempted to reclaim her. Shelter vet's observation/notes are unremarkable and typical for an older lady. Behaviorally, she is quiet, friendly but a little reserved and stoic, and these are all things we would expect from an Akita.

A kennel in rescue is not the best option for an older lady like Yuki, and with such a sweet, soft temperament, we think she would not do well. We are collaborating with our sister-rescues and rescuers, and, Japanese Akitainu Club of America is also assisting us in networking Yuki and helping find her an appropriate and forever landing spot. Due to age (and being un-spayed) she is not adoptable to the public at this time.

Please share!!

Video in the first comment. If this little lady has caught your interest or your heart, or you'd like to meet her and possibly foster or adopt, please reach out to us at: [email protected].

We will always consider an out of area/out of state adopter, but we do not ship dogs.

Our talented friends at Futago Kennels Japanese Akita have created an original sticker in honor of Chuuken Hachiko to raise funds to help rescues. Please visit their page. Happy International Akitainu Day!

Happy Hachiko day! To commerate this incredible dog, we wanted to remind our followers that we designed Hachiko stickers and 100% of profits will be donated to Akitainu in need, through JACA cares. We ship worldwide!

You can purchase them here:

You can learn more about JACA Cares here:

It is our responsiblity as preservation breeders to help protect this breed, which includes assisting rescues.

Puppies can be a lot of work and if you would prefer to skip the puppy stage, consider adopting. Check out JACA Cares for a list of rescues. In addition, volunteering and fostering is also a huge help!

Many of us have friends and family affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. As the Santa Ana winds are expected to continue and some of our club members in L.A. County and the wider Southern California region remain at risk, we wanted to share an emergency evacuation preparedness list.

Our thoughts are with the residents and heroic first responders in the City of Angels, Greater L.A. and surrounding areas. Stay strong and stay safe.

Courtesy post that does not contain a Rickroll… or does it? 🤔

These two Japanese Akitainu Taro and Tomiko were loved by their owner who recently and sadly passed away. They ended up at a high kill LA County shelter but were luckily pulled by one of the kindest people ever (thanks, Patty!).

Rockin’ Red Dog located in SoCal has been showing them with love, good food, vet care, toys, and shampoo. Taro and Tomiko are available for adoption “together forever and never to part, together forever these two...”

Serious inquiries may be directed to Rockin' Red Dog.
