October is here, and it's a big month for the things we care about most.

This month we're talking prevention, mental health screenings, standing up to bullying, ADHD, and Red Ribbon Week. Expect real talk, practical tips for families, and a few reminders to take care of YOU.

Parenting through the teen years comes with a lot of noise and a lot of pressure to believe you're powerless against peer influence, curiosity, or "kids being kids." But the research tells a different story.

Your voice matters more than you think. Open conversations, consistency, and support at home are some of the strongest protective factors against youth substance use, stronger than most parents realize.

And if you're worried, or you're not sure where to start? Reaching out isn't weakness. It's one of the bravest things you can do for your family.

Youth180 is here for confidential, compassionate support. No judgment, just help.

🎙️ Now streaming: our Chief Programs Officer, Viviana Triana, joined Charlas Reales yesterday to talk about youth mental health. She shared how parents can support their teens and the services available at Youth.

Charlas Reales is a local podcast working to raise mental health awareness in the Latino community, and we're grateful they invited us to join the conversation.

Asking for help can feel difficult—especially when you are not sure how someone will respond or you cannot fully explain what you are feeling.
You do not have to have the perfect words.

You can start by telling someone that something feels different, that you are overwhelmed, or that you need someone to listen.

A trusted parent, caregiver, teacher, counselor, coach, family member, or mental health professional can help you take the next step.

Save this post in case you need the words later.

Short answer: yes. Like, really common.

Your brain is going through a full renovation right now — mood swings, stress, feeling "off" for no reason? That's not you being dramatic. It's biology. A lot of people first start dealing with anxiety or depression during their teen years, and you are NOT the only one who feels this way even if it seems like it.

You're not broken. You're not alone.
