SMU Environmental Communication: From the Gulf to the Southwest SMU's Environmental Comm. students explore environmental issues in the Southwest. The previous group journeyed the Gulf Coast after the BP spill.

The 2014 Environmental Communication class travels to SMU's campus in Taos, NM, to study the environmental issues in the Southwest, and best practices for communicating those issues to the public in an effort to rally support and bring about solutions. In January 2011, SMU students traveled to the Gulf Coast to examine the unprecedented commu

nications challenges during the worst environmental disaster in US history. Students chronicle their impressions as they journeyed from New Orleans, down to the coastline skirting the Gulf of Mexico.
