Use of common areas in the home:
kitchen privileges, family room, laundry room with washer (1 x week) and outdoor patios
The process to enter Homestay:
Students must complete an online application and provide a $150 one time administrative fee. Payment can be emailed or a bank Wire invoice is sent for the sponsoring organization to process so payment can be received prior to the student/intern's arrival. Student must submit documentation including copies of:passport, visa, drivers license and UTD internship offer or school acceptance letter prior to be accepted into the host family program. Minimum stay is 4 weeks. Many students will remain for full semester or school year. There is some flexibility with the length.
$150 Deposit to hold and confirm reservation is required upon confirmation of an available host family for placement. No lease is required - all utilities included
Homestay operates 12 months a year. Flat Monthly Non-negotiable rate is $875. Breakfast is included Monday - Friday. Other:
No smoking inside the homes. No overnight guests of the opposite sex allowed
Kitchen privileges between the hours of 6AM - 9PM.(Exceptions to hours to be discussed with host family)
There are no housekeepers in the home so the student is expected to clean and maintain the cleanliness of their bedroom, bathroom and areas of the home they use. Some host families have friendly, indoor pets
If you would like meals provided, the additional costs will be discussed with your host family. You will receive a description of your host family after your deposit has been received and your personal documents have been reviewed and verified. Payment in full is required prior to arrival/move in date (provide date on application)
The student is expected to contact their host family once their payment is received and they receive the host family name and contact information. All homestay housing payments are submitted directly to Connie Rhodes who coordinates your placement and distributes the monthly stipend to your host family for your housing.
