We have an annual Off to College celebration for our Bright Stars Scholars a few weeks before they all start to head off to school. A few 2026 Scholars were out of town and could not make it. You were so missed. This is to celebrate a Right of Passage for our new students. It is also for all our ‘kids’ in college, not just our newest class, to come together and bond as a group. To let our older Scholars pour into the new ones heading off with their wisdom, advice and what they would do differently in their freshmen year. To let our 2026 Scholars ask questions of our older Scholars. It is always our favorite part of the day!

Here are just a few pics of a day filled with a sense of family, joy, celebration, and a sense that pouring in to our young people truly does change the world. SO…..

Go be great, do great and change the world our precious and amazing Scholars. All 83 of you FILL our hearts and our hope! You all are cherished!

Life has been in full swing these last few months, and I wanted to take a moment to share a few updates and reflect on how grateful I am. First, I had the incredible honor of serving as the MC for the John and Deborah Gillis Foundation’s annual Bright Star Scholarship Ceremony. Being part of that night was truly one of the highlights of my year. This year’s group of students brought tears to my eyes; each one of them is driven and stepping into a very promising future. They are beating the curve and will bring so much purpose and success into their schools, careers, and communities.

To Robin Shrode the John and Deborah Gillis Foundation, thank you for taking a chance on me and for allowing me to be a small part of such a meaningful night. It is an honor to be connected to a foundation that continues to change lives, including mine.

Second, I recently completed my third year as part of the Energy Access Innovations enterprise. That milestone honestly overwhelms me.

Over the last three years, I have had the privilege of learning from leaders who have shaped the way I think, work, communicate, and lead. Every experience has taught me something, every challenge has helped me grow, and every mentor has left a lasting impact on my professional journey.

Brianna Schroeder, thank you for taking me on as a direct report, teaching me, trusting me, and allowing me to make decisions and contribute to major projects within our company. You, Tasha Watson, my teammates, and so many others across the company have taught me so much. I am grateful to be part of a team where my opinions, ideas, and decisions are valued and taken seriously.

Lastly, I am stepping into the final push of my degree. I can hardly believe I am saying that just two years after graduating high school. The knowledge I have gained has been irreplaceable, but the experience of fully immersing myself in this journey has meant even more. College was once an opportunity I was not sure would be possible for me, and I know I would not be here without the people who believed in me, invested in me, and supported me along the way.

I am excited, grateful, and ready for what is ahead.

Cheers to the Fall Class of 2026.

We ended the 2026 Bright Stars Scholarship season by celebrating together - Bright Stars Scholarship Advisory Committee members, Board members and ED - over an amazing dinner at the Sulphur Springs Country Club! The best part of the evening was listening to the stories of amazing young men and women who worked hard to make it to their final requirement- the interview. We are so grateful for EVERY applicant! We wish every single one the best of life because they ALL were amazing!
We LOVE each member of our Bright Stars Scholarship Advisory committee and know they are the backbone of our mission. They selflessly give of their time, hearts and commitment to the foundation and young people of Hopkins County. We truly are a family who love what we do, doing it together, and who we are doing it for year after year. Blessing upon blessing……
