Restore. It's a word you only use for something you once had.

For most of us joy got crowded out somewhere along the way — by finances, work, relationships, by the pressure of serving God consistently. It became contingent on how the day was going. But children have this ability to have joy simply because they've found the delight of their parents, and that's the joy God is offering back to you.

God is not calling you to share with the world your own perfection.

A lot of us quietly believe we have to get our lives sorted before God can use us. So we wait. The waiting looks like humility, but it's mostly just hiding.

The most powerful thing you can show someone in the dark isn't that you've figured it out. It's that someone in desperate need was met by a perfectly loving Savior.

Run to God with your temptations, needs, and desires and ask him to lead you to satisfaction.

Darkness is only tempting while we haven't yet tasted how satisfying the light actually is. That's not a scolding — it's an invitation to go looking.

The answer isn't to stare harder at what's pulling at you. It's to bring it to the only real source of satisfaction there is.
