As we continue into the month of April we want to highlight the contribution of a truly wonderful organization. Skudo USA is a local Dallas organization run by some amazing Aussies. They produce incredible temporary surface protections for the construction industry and are truly leaders and innovators in their field. They have been so incredibly generous and supportive of Maximum Chances over many, many years. Their huge contribution each year has allowed us to change the lives of so many children and we are incredibly grateful and honored to have had this amazing connection . Our deepest thanks to Deb, Brendon, Kieron and their wonderful staff for their phenomenal impact! 💚💚💚

On World Autism Awareness Day 2026 we want to highlight the incredible work of Mary and Rachel Villarreal from the Journey Learning Center as they bring to an end their amazing autism therapy program that has run for more than 10 years. They have poured their time, EXTRAORDINARY knowledge, love and energy into this program and helped countless families by creating a program that was more accessible to parents looking to help their children. We have been deeply honored to have been able to partner with them and help cover the costs for so many amazing kids, many of whom have been able to transition into mainstream classrooms. All thanks to the skills of Mary, Rachel and most recently their wonderful teacher Christina. As they close this chapter of the autism program they will continue with their wonderful work with occupational therapy. We were thrilled to be a part of their graduation ceremony last week and they closed the chapter on this wonderful program. A HUGE congratulations to our most recent and final graduates! We can’t wait to hear about their progress!

North Texas Giving Day HAS ARRIVED!! We wanted to share some SUCCESS stories from a couple of our recent Maximum Chances kiddos.

MARCEL: When he first started, he exhibited severely limited language skills, had difficulty following verbal directions, and was unable to identify any letters or numbers. Additionally, Marcel struggled with poor fine and gross motor skills. Through consistent intervention and individualized support, Marcel gradually made significant progress in each area of concern. Over time, he began to respond to simple instructions and showed improvement in recognizing basic letters and numbers. His fine and gross motor abilities also improved noticeably. By the time Marcel graduated from Journey Learning Center, he was able to read, follow directions, and remain seated during educational activities and meals. Furthermore, he tested within the average range on visual moto

ADAM: When Adam first arrived, he struggled significantly with emotional regulation. Over the course of his enrollment, he became much more capable of expressing his emotions and understanding strategies for self-regulation. Initially, playing and sharing with others was challenging for Adam. Now, he participates easily in group play and is able to share with peers without difficulty. Adam has achieved full recognition of all upper and lower case letters, as well as their corresponding sounds. He can read complex stories and accurately describe the beginning, middle, and end of each story. Adam is now independent with all age-appropriate basic life skills, demonstrating growth in both his personal and academic development.

We are truly appreciative of all of the support we've received over the years, and North Texas Giving Day plays such a vital role for us! If you know someone who might be interested in donating today, please share our link with them. A thousand thanks for your support!

North Texas Giving Day is this Thursday, September 18th, and we are so very grateful to the Communities Foundation of Texas for putting on this incredible giving day each year. This day impacts so many non profits in the metroplex and we are always so grateful to be included! We have new kiddos this year that we have added to the MAXimum Chances family who we are providing therapies for. We need to raise $100,000 to cover them for the next 12 months. Any little bit helps us! Please consider us in your giving day! North Texas Giving Day

On World Autism Day 2025 I have been reflecting on the fact that it’s been 20 years this month that Max was diagnosed with autism at the age of 22 months. I can’t believe the journey we have all been on over the last 20 years. I had no idea what to expect. No idea about the amazing people we would meet on the way, whether they be the incredible therapists, doctors, carers and parents of other children on the spectrum. Journeys are RARELY a straight line forward. There is progress gained and lost, ventures off the beaten path and then back on the orginal path for a while. There is sadness, frustration and joy, sometimes all in the same day. Your ideas of what things should look like change drastically and sometimes you are glad the path has been hard because it’s led to wonderful things…and sometimes not. There could be people who don’t understand the way you might like and then people that show up to support you in the most incredible way. Strangers can blow you away with their generosity and kindness. I could not have imagined we would start a foundation and end up getting to see the wonderful progress other children have made. We are so thankful to all of you who have helped make that happen.

2025 is upon us and Maximum Chances is so excited to unveil our new logo which has been months in the making! Choosing a logo can be significant in that symbols can play a really important part in defining and uniting a community. In recent years there has been encouragement from the adult autistic community to move away from the traditionally recognized jigsaw puzzle piece which they did not play a part in choosing at it's inception with the aim that it helps reduce the inference that people on the spectrum are incomplete or a puzzle that needs to be fixed or solved. The goal of the infinity symbol is to represent the entire spectrum of autistic people and encourage inclusivity, acceptance and a different level of awareness of this neurodiverse community.
Max is now 21 and we have spent the last couple of years learning more about the adult autistic community and getting his personal input and thoughts on how we can help a broader group of people. We hope you like our new look and are so grateful for your support of us over the last 10 years!
