This past Monday, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and other elected officials and community leaders came together honor 222 outstanding police officers and non-sworn employees at the 41st annual Friends of the Dallas Police Awards Banquet.

This year's banquet will take place on November 7 and will be honoring over 175 DPD employees and officers for their extraordinary courage, exemplary work, and dedication to the City of Dallas.
Please consider donating an in-kind gift to be given to a Dallas Police Department award recipient. We are looking for tickets to sporting events and performing arts and musical performances, and gift cards or certificates to golf courses, restaurants, stores, hunting/fishing/camping experiences, and any other special experiences you these the award recipients would enjoy.

The Friends of Dallas Police came together to honor the best among Dallas police officers including Officer Darryl Cytacki. He was named the rookie of the year and given a life saving award for going into a burning building before the fire department arrived.

Congratulations to the 259 women and men of the Dallas Police Department who were honored last night at the 40th-annual Friends of the Dallas Police Awards Banquet. These outstanding public servants work above and beyond the call of duty, both on the frontlines and behind the scenes. The event – organized by the Friends of the Dallas Police and presented by Highland Capital Management – helped shine a light on numerous acts of heroism, from the take-down of one of the country’s most prolific human traffickers, to courage shown during active shooter scenes, fire and drowning rescues and so much more.

And of course we remember the seven incredible people who unfortunately lost their lives during this particularly difficult year. Their families were presented Police Crosses in their memory.

We truly appreciate Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and the numerous elected officials, community supporters and family members for joining us last night.

Most of all, thank you to ALL the sworn and non-sworn employees of the DPD who work round the clock and sacrifice so much to help keep our city safe.

The annual Awards Banquet for the Dallas Police Department is coming up on Monday, November 15 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas where we will be honoring 265 DPD employees and officers for their extraordinary courage, exemplary work and dedication to the City of Dallas.

We are working on putting together gift packages for the department’s Division and Top Department Award winners to go along with a commemorative award they will receive that evening.

We were saddened to hear of the loss of Sgt. McCoy due to COVID-19 earlier this week. He received a Life Saving Award in 2015 and will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with his family and with the safety of all our first responders as the number of cases in Dallas continue to rise.
