🏅 WHAT A WEEKEND FOR ELLIS COUNTY UNITED! 🏅

Ellis County United spent the weekend in Midland/Odessa competing at the SOTX Fall Classic State Tournament! Our athletes represented ECU in swimming, bocce, and golf, and we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments!

In addition to competing, our athletes had the opportunity to participate in the Opening Ceremonies hosted by the City of Odessa, making the weekend even more memorable!

🏊‍♂️ SWIMMING – NOAH 🥇🥇🥇

Talk about making a splash! In his very first year of competition, Noah brought home THREE GOLD MEDALS in the 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke, and 50m freestyle! What an incredible way to kick off his Special Olympics journey! Way to go, Noah!

🔴 BOCCE – KYVIN & KYDEN 🥈

Kyvin and his brother, Kyden, who serves as his Unified Partner, earned a SILVER MEDAL in doubles half-court bocce! After bringing home bronze last year, these two continue to improve and show what hard work and teamwork can accomplish. We love seeing their progress!

⛳ GOLF – WYATT, PAIGE & RILEY

Our golf team had the largest group of ECU athletes competing at Fall Classic, and they made us proud!

🥈 Wyatt competed in golf skills, including short putt, long putt, chip shot, pitch shot, iron shot, and wood shot, earning a SILVER MEDAL! We're especially excited that next year he'll be moving up to 9-hole alternate shot with a Unified Partner. Keep reaching for those goals, Wyatt!

🥉 Paige & Bryan competed in 9-hole alternate shot and brought home a BRONZE MEDAL! This was Paige's first year competing at the next level in golf, and she rose to the challenge! We are so proud of her and Bryan for their teamwork and determination!

🥇 Riley competed in a full 18-hole round with his dad, Robert, by his side as his caddy. All that hard work and dedication paid off as Riley earned a GOLD MEDAL! What a special experience for this father-son duo!

And to our families and Unified Partners, thank you for the love, support, and encouragement you give our athletes every step of the way!

While the medals are exciting, what makes us most proud is watching our athletes grow in confidence, develop new skills, challenge themselves, and accomplish things they once thought were out of reach. That's what Special Olympics is all about! ❤️

⚠️ IMPORTANT CHANGE THIS SEASON: Practices will be held on TUESDAY evenings instead of Mondays due to gym availability.

We would like to invite you to a Guardianship Forum presented by the Ellis County Bar Association for our community.

This informative afternoon will include sessions covering guardianship for adults with disabilities, alternatives to guardianship, government benefits, and Ellis County resources available to special needs families. Attorneys and other professionals will address each of these topics during four sessions, with time for questions at the end of each session. Attorney Vernon Witherspoon will moderate the afternoon’s discussions.

⛳️🏅 WHAT A DAY FOR ECU GOLF! 🏅⛳️

We couldn’t be prouder of our Ellis County United golfers and Unified partners after an incredible day at the Regional Golf Tournament! ❤️💙

🏌️ Our two 18-hole golfers both brought home GOLD! 🥇🥇

🏌️‍♀️ Our Unified 9-Hole Alternate Shot team also finished the day with GOLD! 🥇

⛳️ Our six Skills athletes competed in long putt, short putt, pitching, chipping, wood shot, and iron shot — bringing home 2 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze! 🥇🥇🥈🥈🥈🥉

That means every single ECU golfer came home with a medal! 🎉 But even better than the medals was seeing their hard work, determination, and sportsmanship out on the course.

A HUGE thank you to Coach Doug and Coach Michelle for the time, patience, encouragement, and heart they pour into our athletes. Our golf program wouldn’t be what it is without two coaches who believe in our athletes and help them be their very best. We are so thankful for you both! 💙❤️

Next stop: STATE! ⛳️🏆 Our golfers will continue working hard as they prepare for the State Competition in Midland/Odessa this October! We can’t wait to watch them take the course and represent Ellis County United on the state level!

Katie Tharp’s family has been going to Dr. Vinton at “Soothing Dental” since he opened his practice 15 years ago in Midlothian. Whether you're a returning athlete or interested in trying powerlifting for the first time, we'd love to have you join us. Powerlifting is a great way to build strength, confidence, and friendships while challenging yourself to reach new goals.

🎳 Bowling Registration is NOW OPEN! 🎳

We're excited to kick off another bowling season with Ellis County United, and we have some exciting news!

Please join us in welcoming Sabrina Lambert as our new Bowling Coach! We are so thankful that Sabrina has stepped into this role, and we know she is going to do an amazing job working with our athletes. Be sure to give her a warm ECU welcome when you see her!

Bowling practices will begin Monday, August 17, at Hilltop Lanes. Whether you're a returning athlete or interested in trying bowling for the first time, we'd love to have you join us!
