One of the things we’ve loved most about ALPHA is watching each young person show up as themselves. No two stories are the same, and that’s exactly what makes this journey so meaningful.

Hi, My name is Jessica Bennett and I am the program creator and director of A.L.P.H.A.

One of the biggest surprises of the ALPHA Youth Leadership Program…

The kids weren’t the only ones learning.

We asked them to try new things, meet new people, speak up, step outside their comfort zones, and believe in themselves, even when they were nervous.

And then they did.

Watching them choose courage over comfort made me stop and ask myself a question:

What am I still afraid of?

This past Saturday, I stood in front of a room full of people to speak at our graduation ceremony. Normally, I would’ve been overthinking every word. But this time, I wasn’t. I was simply sharing something I believed in.

It reminded me that growth doesn’t stop when you become an adult. Sometimes the people we’re trying to mentor end up mentoring us, too.

That’s one of the gifts these young people gave me.

ALPHA was created to help youth discover their confidence, purpose, and potential. Somewhere along the way, they reminded the adults in the room that we’re still growing, too.

I don’t think any of us left this program the same people who walked into it, and I think that’s exactly what made this experience so special. 💚

Free to Live

There’s something powerful about choosing courage, even when you’re nervous.

When Kendyl first joined the ALPHA Youth Leadership Program, stepping into a room full of new faces and trying new activities felt intimidating. But growth doesn’t happen by staying comfortable, it happens when we decide to take that first step anyway.

We’re so proud of Kendyl for showing up, pushing through, and giving herself the chance to have an amazing experience.

A special thank-you to the coaches who showed up, poured into our youth, and helped bring the ALPHA Youth Leadership Program to life.

Coach Torey Mitchell, Christopher Anthony, TJ Atwater, and Derrick Martin, thank you for sharing your time, leadership, experience, patience, and energy with our participants. Each of you played an important role in helping our youth build confidence, practice accountability, strengthen their skills, and see themselves as leaders.

Your impact went far beyond the activities and lessons. You helped create an environment where every child could learn, grow, be challenged, and still feel supported.

We’re excited to share that Simply Grace Gardens Homestead and the Cornerstone Baptist Church(Dallas,TX) Community Garden will be providing FREE fresh produce during our A.L.P.H.A. Youth Leadership Program Graduation Celebration!

From fresh fruits and vegetables to the spirit of giving, this is one more way we’re working together to strengthen our community and make healthy food more accessible to our neighbors.

🕐 Stop by between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to visit the Simply Grace Gardens table and receive free produce while supplies last. Meet the team, learn more about the community garden, and discover how we’re growing more than food, we’re growing community.
