Next Steps The Colony

On Monday, October 5th, from 6:00-7:00pm, the Missions Team of First United Methodist Church The Colony is hosting a mental health seminar “Depression & Anxiety: What to Watch For and How to Help” presented by the Center for Integrative Counseling and Psychology. Hear from a clinical physician how to recognize signs of depression and anxiety and discover practical ways to support yourself and others. This is part one of a multi-month conversation around mental and emotional health. This is a free community event with child care provided from 5:45-7:15pm. Recently, the Mission TC team had an opportunity to help a neighbor with some brush clean-up. The team was able to make a positive impact and we are so grateful for those who give of their time and talent to help others!

Sometimes, making a difference simply means showing up.

Showing up for someone who needs a coach in their corner.

Showing up for a neighbor who needs a little help with a repair, a yard, or a project they can no longer manage on their own.

Showing up to remind someone that they matter—and that they don't have to figure everything out alone.

Through Coaching and Mission TC, Next Steps shows up for people in different ways, but with the same heart: to come alongside people, build connection, and help create a path forward.

Today marks 7 years since Next Steps began its mission to serve individuals and families in our community. What started as a step of faith has grown into a movement of compassion — powered by you.

Food blessing this weekend!

🍞 FREE FOOD will be given out on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at Friendship Baptist Church (4396 Main Street in The Colony).

🚙 No registration needed. Enter the parking lot from Cougar Alley to receive free groceries.

A great community blessing event coming this Friday!

A huge THANK YOU to the amazing volunteer team from Heartland Church! ❤️🌿

On Saturday, they spent their morning serving at our Next Steps homes, working in nearly 100-degree Texas heat to help make our yards beautiful. Their willingness to sweat, serve, and love our residents in such a practical way did not go unnoticed.

A well-maintained home does more than improve curb appeal—it creates an environment where healing, dignity, and hope can flourish. Your hard work helps make our houses feel even more like home for the men and women walking the journey of recovery.

We are incredibly grateful for your servant hearts, your smiles, and your commitment to loving your neighbors through action.

A quick update... ❤️

Because of your generosity, we were able to provide an additional week of housing and groceries for our friend at the men's house. Your financial support made that possible, and he is incredibly grateful.

He is working hard, holding down two jobs, and taking the next steps toward stability.

Right now, he is actively looking for a room to rent in the Plano area so he can be closer to work. If you know of a safe, affordable room or have a lead, please contact Pamela at 214-636-1207.

He also has an ongoing need for Uber rides to and from work. One simple way to help is by sending an Uber gift card digitally through Amazon. If you'd like to help in this way, send me a text, and I'll send you the information you need to purchase and text an e-gift card.
