Dementia Friend

Dementia Friend You can join over 3 million Dementia Friends who are changing the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about dementia.

209,600 will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes. Too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the condition they live with. Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends is here to combat the stigma and build communities that allow people with dementia to live the way they want.

Four weeks ago I brought my 71-year-old father, who has dementia, to live with us.
He was diagnosed with the disease two years ago, but his condition has progressed to the point where he can no longer recognize our faces. We felt scared and helpless as he wandered six kilometers away from home, unable to remember how to get back. Perhaps only the family members of patients who are experiencing dementia will understand how painful it is.😭
Fortunately, perhaps a miracle! A friend of mine introduced me to a new memory improvement method and we decided to give it a try. To our surprise, my dad's dementia disappeared and it was great to see him playing with my daughter again.
If you and your family are truly experiencing the effects of dementia. Then this method must be the best gift for you and your family.💝

This training will help you generate higher conversions throughout the entire Conversion Marketing Lifecycle - from converting more Internet browsers into website visitors, visitors into leads, leads into customers and customers into promoters — in proven and actionable ways.

Our oldest Dementia Friend, the amazing 102-year-old Dabirul Choudhury OBE, appeared on Good Morning Britain this morning to talk about why volunteering our time for others is so important in the fight against loneliness.
Dabirul was on the show last year too, read about how he inspired the nation to break the record for the number of minutes pledged: bit.ly/3HOZ4Lz

How could we list some of our 2022 highlights without mentioning the incredible animals we’ve seen involved in dementia-friendly initiatives this year? 🐈‍🐕
We saw dogs dressed in denim, awareness raising cats, and of course Pickles the therapy pony, who brings joy to everyone she meets – a much needed dose of adorable furry friends!

Let’s kickstart the year with a heartwarming story. Alzheimer’s Society Community Fundraiser Amy told us why she loves doing what she does! An inspiring chat with a Dementia Friend really brought home why the initiative is so important.
“I had a stand at an event in Meriden, West Midlands, and had the loveliest conversation with a supporter. He told me about how he had attended a Dementia Friends Session a few years ago and it was probably one of the most impactful hours of his life!
“He spoke about how the bookcase analogy and other examples used in the Session really allowed him to understand and be confident in talking to other people about dementia. He also shared how the fact that someone might not remember what you did with them when you visited that day, but they will remember how you made them feel, has always stuck with him, and he thinks about that in all he does.”
We would love to hear about your favourite part of the Dementia Friends Session, and the impact it has had - let us know in the comments👇
