event at LLELA!

Coming up next month, we’re taking a closer look at
one of North Texas’ most fascinating reptiles: box
turtles!

Join us to learn about the important niche box turtles
fill in our ecosystem and get an inside look at LLELA’s
Box Turtle Head Start Project, which helps prepare
turtles for their return to the wild.

Best of all, you’ll have the chance to meet the turtles
up close and see firsthand how they’re cared for along
the way.

Friends of LLELA wish a fond farewell to Vin Merrill!

Vin Merrill has been a fixture at LLELA for over a decade. For several years, if mowing was needed anywhere on the property, Vin mowed it. He was the guy who picked up the odd jobs around the nursery so that other folks could concentrate on plants and planting. He led our bluebird monitoring team each spring and was the champion of the not-yet-opened Stewart Creek Trail. In fact, on his last day he mowed the trail route one last time. Always ready with a droll observation on life or a smart aleck remark, he is the original “LLELA Crumudgeon” and we all will miss him.

We wish Vin and Betsy the best as they move back to Connecticut to be with family and old friends!
