Teaching our virtual drumming class is the amazing Edward Dogbe . Edward is a drummer, a dancer, a performer, and an entertainer. Born into a musician's family in Accra, Ghana in West Africa, Edward has been deeply involved in music since childhood. Becoming a performer at the age of 10, Edward has been a part of several dance ensembles across his native Ghana. Today, Edward is a Certified Community Drum Circle Facilitator in Dubai, U.A.E where he continues to travel throughout the Gulf countries and showcase his talents creating and performing African music. It's our great pleasure and honor that Edward is a part of our Pura Vida Family.

Introducing our Yoga & Meditation Instructor, Hathor Hendrix, at Pura Vida Youth!

Corona has impacted us all in so many ways. At Pura Vida, our in-person classes have slowed down while we all made the transition to teaching virtually. Teaching our virtual yoga class is a dear friend of Pura Vida, the amazing, talented Hathor Hendrix. Hathor is a performance/healing artist that has traveled across the country sharing her love and expertise to adults and children alike. As a performance artist, her specialties include dance, singing/songwriting, and bass guitar. Her healing talents include personal training, pilates, mindful movement practices, and multiple styles of yoga. Many of the children we serve have never taken a yoga or meditation class and we are glad that Hathor is taking them on their first journey. We are honored and truly grateful to have Hathor as part of our community here at Pura Vida Youth.

Community work is often thankless work. For months, we've volunteered with, worked side-by-side with, and watched grind it out daily in his mission to cultivate a stronger, healthier, and more self-reliant community. It's our honor to call him friend, but it's our pleasure to see him awarded for the amazing work that he's doing for his local community and broader communities of color. Congratulations for winning Community Humanitarian Award, Ples! This is only the beginning for you, brother!
