Calling Community Organizations: Help Us Connect Black Girls to the Ocean
Black Girls Go Global is inviting community organizations that serve Black girls to learn about an extraordinary opportunity for the young women in your community.
Enrollment for our 2027 Guardians of the Sea β Life Below Water S.T.E.A.M. Program officially opens October 1, 2026!
This immersive international experience is designed for Black girls in Grades 9β12 who are curious about science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.
In June 2027, participants will travel to Costa Rica for a hands-on S.T.E.A.M. experience centered around United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #14: Life Below Water.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn alongside Costa Rican girls while exploring marine conservation, environmental sustainability, and the science of our oceans. Through project-based activities and cultural exchange, they will connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world challenges affecting our oceans and coastal communities.
Community organizations are trusted messengers.
You know the girls in your programs. You know their families. You know which young women are curious, creative, ambitious, and ready to see themselves as scientists, engineers, environmental leaders, entrepreneurs, and global citizens.
We are asking organizations that serve Black girls to:
- Share information about the 2027 Guardians of the Sea program with eligible girls and their families.
- Encourage girls interested in S.T.E.A.M., marine science, environmental issues, and global learning to apply.
- Share our enrollment opportunity through your newsletters, social media, email lists, and community networks.
Connect with Black Girls Go Global about potential partnerships and opportunities to support participating students.
Enrollment Opens October 1, 2026!

At Black Girls Go Global, we believe Black girls deserve opportunities to learn, serve, leadβand see the world.
When a girl discovers the ocean, she may also discover a career.
When she works alongside girls from another country, she may discover a global community.
And when she realizes that her voice and ideas can contribute to solving environmental challenges, she may discover her power.
If your organization serves Black girls and would like to learn more about the program or explore a partnership, we would love to connect with you.
Share this post with a community organization, youth program, school, mentor, educator, or parent who should know about this opportunity.
