Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts:

An evening of connection, conversation and a shared vision for South Dallas.

We were grateful to travel to Massachusetts to gather with philanthropic, business, civic and cultural leaders for a conversation about the work happening in South Dallas and the role the Historic Forest Theater will play in what comes next.

As we prepare for the reopening of the Forest Theater, we’re building toward something bigger than a restored landmark: stronger communities, broader opportunity and a place where culture, creativity and economic growth can thrive together.

Happy National Intern Day to two incredible members of the Forest Forward team.

Today, Khai and Sydney wrapped up their internships by presenting their final project, and they absolutely crushed it. Their creativity, dedication, and willingness to jump in wherever needed made a real impact on our work this summer.

Thank you for everything you’ve brought to the team. We can’t wait to see where your talents take you next. Go on and do great things. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way. Please join us in congratulating Khai and Sydney on a job well done!

We’re honored to be named D CEO’s 2026 Nonprofit & Corporate Citizenship Organization of the Year (Large Organization).

This recognition belongs to every team member, partner, supporter, and community member who believes in what’s possible for Sunny South Dallas.

The work isn’t always easy, but every step has been worth it. And while we’re proud of this moment, we’re even more excited for what’s ahead. When the doors of the Forest Theater open, they’ll open because of the vision, commitment, and collaboration that brought us here.

This summer, we’ve had the privilege of learning alongside two incredible interns.

Sydney, from Paul Quinn College, and Khai, from Texas Woman’s University, have brought curiosity, creativity and a willingness to jump in wherever needed. From supporting our team behind the scenes to contributing to the work happening across Forest Forward, they’ve made a real impact.

Thank you, Sydney and Khai, for spending your summer with us. The future is in good hands, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for you both.

This production of “The Wiz of Oz” wouldn’t have happened without so many hands. Endless thanks to Frost Bank and Broadway Dallas for their generous support, to the community residents who showed up, and to the families and friends who cheered these MLK Arts Academy - Theatre students on every step of the way. This kind of magic takes a village!
